No, it picks up the aspect ratio signalling from the video stream!

Indeed, Mosu had to modify MKVmerge GUI some time ago, so it no longer removes aspect ratio signalling at the stream level "by default"...

I read on their forum that they implemented it in one of their firmware updates, but I don't own one so I cannot verify.
