Need more space?
I'm using DVD Shrink 3.2 with DVD Decrypter 3.5.1 and using RecordNow (came with my Dell). I've backed up numerous DVD's without problem, but now when I try to burn it says I need to make my file smaller by 3500mb. I'm trying to back up 'Bad Santa' and it's not a abnormal sized movie. It's happened with others as well. I'm using TDK 4X 4.7 GB DVD+R. I've always used these discs without problems. Can anyone help me?
Thanks |

let me get this straight: you sucessfully created the iso with dvdshrink and it came out the right size too?! then you want to burn it with RecordNow (btw not the ideal program for burning DVDs imho) and RecordNow complains about the size?
or does shrink say you have to reduce the movie by 3500 MB? if so, i suggest you use reauthor mode and do a main movie only copy, as obviously the extras are taking up a rather big amount of space! also you might want to drop a couple of audio tracks, especially DTS tracks take up a huge amount of space! hth steVe

You do have it right with the problem. RecordNow is saying it needs to be smaller file size. It says I need to remove 3000mb for it to fit and the movie is only 4000mb. I'll try the re-author idea and see what happens.
Thanks |

why don't you let dvdshrink create an iso file and then burn it with dvddecrypter... should be much more reliable (and less error prone) than using RecordNow ...

Tried to burn with DVD Decrypter
I burned with DVD Decrypter and it worked...kind of.
The movie starts out with the FBI Warning... and you can hear broken up pieces of the main menu sound, but all that plays is the FBI Warning. When I hit menu all the options (play, scene selection, special features...) shows through the warning. You can choose an option, but the Warning screen is all you see. Even if you fast forward a lot. Any ideas? thanks |

I used DVD Shrink as usual and when I backed it up I chose my back up target as "iso image file and burn with DVD Decrypter". When that was finished I went to DVD Decrpyter and went to mode-ISO-Write, inserted blank disc and hit the write to disc button.
What is a 'log file'? Sorry I just a newbie. Thanks |

I wish I could write what I did wrong, but so far I've only got one disc to copy right. I've wasted 10 discs trying to figure things out and I still am not sure what I'm not doing. As soon as I figure it out I'll post what I did to fix it.

DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME)Failed!
Device:[0:0:0]TEACDVD+RWDV-W58E D.OC (D(ATA) Unable to lock volume for exclusive access. Reason: Access is denied I keep getting this when I copy with DVD Shirnk (like normal) and backup using ISO image and burn with DVD Decrypter, or something close to that. What am I doing wrong because I cannot figure it out! Please help |

Got it!
I finally got it down and working. I'm going to do a different disc to make sure I got and then I'll post what I did to get it to work so someone else can maybe use this post.
Thanks for your help Scott! I was greatly appreciated. LOL-sorry Steve. I wasn't paying attention. Bobby D. Last edited by bobbydigital; 21st September 2004 at 22:36. |
