Hello,
I have been trying to re-encode a file & RipBot gets through the 1st pass but just hangs afterwards...it will just say: Pass 1... and never start Pass 2...this has happened while trying to re-encode a file that's like 8.25 GB in size & I'm trying to shrink to 7.95GB in Blu-ray structure to fit on a DL DVD...the video is H.264 (1920x1080, 23.976 fps) & the audio is DTS (768 kbps) I've tried a .mkv, .ts, .m2ts extensions of the same file w/the same result...the files play fine in VLC, Nero Showtime & WMPC...I've been using RipBot 1.10.7 on a Vista Ultimate 64-bit system & haven't had any problems w/similar files...does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?? Thanks in advance... Last edited by brogan; 10th October 2008 at 16:05. |

I am currently waiting for the Nehalem. Since you can't give any numbers can you maybe tell us if this anandtech preview gives us a good idea about the performance gains?

x264 still crashes for me in Version .8. Using .5 successfully. I suspect something about my Pentium 4 perhaps, as Atak has/tests with a Quad core, but otherwise have tried & failed figure it out.

I have two HD M-6500A. Both are v2 models ( the ones that tvix have updated with heatsinks and such ). I use one for my home cinema with a 108" screen and projector and one for my old fat TV.
One I keep at the last stable firmware ( home cinema ) and the one for the TV I keep up with the latest beta firmwares just to see if they work. |

Last try with the .8 profiles. With these settings ( after reading another thread at doom9 about safe limits for limited hardware ) and truning of bpyramid. The problem persists with the tvix as a player.
BufferSize=14745 MaxBitrate=17500 I am using .6 version successfully but I have one Disney Bluray that this one do not handle successfully so I am very keen on finding the problem with the .7 and .8 releases. |

I have found that my crashing problem is owing to Atak's using a build of x264 for core2 computers, and then specifically it doesn't like the --nal-hrd option. If I use a build optimized for my P4 computer (found in this post) then everything works!
EDIT: According to at least this post from Sharktooth and this post from LoRd_MuldeR using an x264 build made for core2 CPUs and above does not enhance speed and thus unnecessarily reduces compatibility. Last edited by laserfan; 12th October 2008 at 19:22. |

If I have a 1920x800 file & just want to keep that resolution w/out stretching the video, is there a line I can add in .avs script to to just add the black bars (add borders)?
Some of the videos that I've converted have looked a little too stretched, it's a little distracting |

Has anyone had any luck using Ripbot for the Popcorn Hour.
I select the Level 4.0 profile and cq22 and the resulting file won't play, when i select it ,it just goes back to the menu On a side note i have questions about the cq 22 i did Baby Mama with cq22 and resized to 720x384 and the file ended up being only 750mb with a bitrate of 700 , does this seem correct. i also tried Transformers HD at 1280x720 (just cut a 20 second clip to test) and the result is bitrate of around 5000 but when played on 50" tv it does not look that good |
