I am not adding any new functionality or making GUI changes. Others will have to contribute patches...

Subtitle can be saved with Ctrl+S.

Ok. Sorry, I wasn't aware this was the situation. Thanks in any case for all the good work. Cheers!

I'm still using version 1.7.13 and I would like to install the latest 1.8.4 version.

Do I need to uninstall the old version of MPC-HC when upgrading?

I used JDownloader to download the 4K version of this clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEFUtNGdkbA

However all I can see is a black screen in MPC-HC. But using VLC I get image.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with this codec?

MEDIA INFO:

How MPC-HC deals with it:

Note: 2nd picture is from external filters.

P.S. madVR is being used in MPC. Also the MPC Be X64 shows image, like VLC. So this must be a specific codec setting that is wrong.

Both Haali Media Splitter as well as ffdshow are deprecated. I would de-install both. Install latest LAV Filters instead or use MPC-HC internal LAV filters.

I didn't know this was the case. The only reason I used ffdshow for audio was the possibility of increasing the audio volume more than 100% since depending on the headphone you use the audio is low (also depending on the content) without an amp, even with max volume. ffdshow (or was it MPC?) somehow bypassed that.

I usually install the latest codec pack from this website:
http://codecguide.com/

Is there a way for me to remove Haali Media Splitter and ffdshow? They keep appearing and I believe only blocking them in filter settings (?) is the way to disable them.

I think this codec pack also includes LAV as far as I can tell.

Easiest way is to uninstall your current pack, and then install its latest version with default settings. It will then use LAV.

To increase volume, you have multiple ways:
1) Enable "Loudness Equalization" in Windows sound settings
2) Enable Volume Normalization in audio switcher of MPC-HC
3) Use "ffdshow audio processor" (not the decoder)

Haali splitter does not support HEVC and VP9, so it should not be used anymore.

MPC-HC also has a "volume booster" option as well that goes up to 300%.

Note however that it's not a magic silver bullet - the louder the source material is, the worse the quality will sound for a given boost amount.

Hello!
It seems I can't play UT Video YUV. LAV doesn't support it apparently and with the loaded official system codec (ULH4 Decoder DMO - CLSID : {94297043-BD82-4DFD-B0DE-8177739C6D20}) I only get a blank black video. MPV plays the same file fine. Not sure why the official codec doesn't work.
Any ideas?

The idea would be to have the video in fullscreen on a secondary monitor (projector), and the controls still available on the main monitor. I use madVR as renderer i that matters (which I doubt). Thanks!
Can you code a little bit? This works in mpv.net:

Code:
import clr

clr.AddReference('System.Drawing')
clr.AddReference('System.Windows.Forms')

from System.Drawing import *
from System.Windows.Forms import *

def cycle_pause(s, a):
    mp.commandv('cycle', 'pause')

form = Form(Text='mpv.net controller')
scale = form.Font.Height
form.ClientSize = Size(scale * 30, scale * 3)

ts = ToolStrip()
ts.Dock = DockStyle.Fill
form.Controls.Add(ts)

playPause = ToolStripButton(Text='Play/Pause')
ts.Items.Add(playPause)
playPause.Click += cycle_pause

Application.Run(form)

@Perenista If you make sure to check all the Internal Source Filters in MPC-HC's config, it should then at least use LAV as a splitter even if you don't find a way to uninstall Haali, and you should then get a video image.

For a long time now, if I leave more than one instance open with a paused video, overnight all of them except one will crash. It might have something to do with the GPU going into deep power saving mode or whatever (Radeon RX550). I cannot pinpoint the exact time of crash since mpc shows the crash popup but keeps running. I don't have debug symbols for MPC-HC 1.8.4, but maybe clsid can take a peek at it. I stashed the dump file at https://drive.google.com/file/d/11OB...ew?usp=sharing

First of all let me thank clsid for keeping MPC-HC alive, greatly appreciated. Unsure if the following lands on bug or feature side of things, but thought to report it anyways. After updating my Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming K3 motherboards Realtek audio driver, and updating MPC-HC from 1.8.3 over to 1.8.5, noticed an odd behavior with the audio playback. That being that the the audio I got Bitstreaming over to my amplifier via S/PDIF would not carry no audio.

The scenario is tad hard to describe but here it goes; After some back and forth testing I found out that whenever I start up my projector, the Audio Renderer drop down list @ MPC-HC > Settings > Playback > Audio Renderer changes. My preferred Audio Rendered being the Realtek Digital Output which is #8 on the list when the Projector is offline with few few entries for my main Dell U2715H display. But as soon as I transfer the video on Win10 to the projector only, two of the entries for the display get removed from the Audio Renderer list, and there is no audio going through anymore for the amplifier. So to get the audio working again after the video output change, I need to manually change to Realtek Digital Output - now choice #7 on the Audio Renderer drop down. Any thoughts on this, working as designed or something that could be fixed/tuned with the future MPC-HC versions? Thanks!
