ogg vorbis + xvid seeking problem

Well, doing my first try to these two codecs I ripped my brand new musical dvd from Rage (very recommended ) following the instructions from everwicked.com for the part of the ogg vorbis and doom9.net for the XviD one. And it gave me very good quality but I found a problem when doing several seeks. In one of those seeks the audio kept playing but the image froze, not exactly frozen because it had a bit movement forward and back, just like when the vinylos were scratched. I had to stop and replay the video again to make the image play again.
Tried the video before it was muxed with the audio and it seeked always fine. I just don't know what exactly the problem is at.

P.D. Forgive me for my horrible english.

you have compagnons

same thing with me.
are you using w98 ? There seem to be alot people like us who are running into propblems with an old system like W98(SE) and OGG stream muxing.
Answer to you question is much likely that the DS Filters from Tobias Waldvogel you're using are a bit buggy concerning W98 environment.
Wait till the master fixes his brew...

Windows XP though . If that is the problem it's a minor one I'll wait and see. The combo looks very good.

What version of the Ogg DS are you using? 0.9.8.6 is the latest AFAIK.

Which players have you tried? Some users have reported smoother playback after changing the extension to AVI but I can't really confirm this.

I get this as well with xvid+vorbis in the .ogm...after seeking several times successfully, the video locks, but the audio continues on from wherever I seek to. This happens mainly with WMP 6.4 and BSplayer, but zoom player seems to be immune. I'm running win2k with the 0.9.8.6 filter....this was happening also with the 0.9.8.5 filter as well...not sure about earliar versions though...

it's like there is an empty (and not "refilled") video buffer or a limited amount of seeks possible with xvid-"avis"...

if i seek several times and the video freezes i try to go back with the slider to the point where the last motion was visible and repeat alt + return (to switch from fullscreen to windowed modus in mplayer 6.4) a few times.
this helps occasionally...

Well trying to reproduce it in Zoomplayer took me a litle longer but it showed again... I hope they will fix this. Nevertheless I like very much the codec.

New release

I've found a bug in the playback part of the ogg library (which is developped by http://www.xiph.org) which caused this problem with the seek. In the meanwhile I've added a workaround in the new version. Please try version 0.9.8.7 and tell me if the problem persists.

Best regards,
Tobias

Simply amazing. The problem has vanished. An intriguing thing happens now, and it is that sometimes it gives an "overlay failed" error when loading a .ogm in bsplayer. But the media plays fine though. I just don't know if it was something I messed myself or what.

P.D. The ogg splitter is wonderfull. It came like the rain from the sky in August .

P.D. of the P.D. Excuse me for my bad language . My lack of skill in english made me do it
