Hey Koepi, why did you close Nibor's and my thread? ;-)
Anyway, thanks a bunch for XviD. I swear to god, if I wasn't such a poor student, I would donate all my money to the XviD developers :-) Go XviD! Yeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! :-D |

thx Koepi!
![]() if/when you happen to talk to the other devteam guys via IRC/email, make sure to thank them _a lot_ for what they have done for us. XviD is simply the best video codec available. [EDIT] and to celebrate the first true stable release of XviD (yeah... 1.0.0 is not "just a number"), here's a thread which I think can be considered as the "act of birth" of this excellent project. That was almost 3 years ago... cheers ![]() virus Last edited by virus; 16th May 2004 at 22:54. |

hmpf. though i don't code in core, i still am a developer too, i code mostly gui stuff in xvid though ![]() I'm sure most developers take a peak in here and see that for themselfes, but when i'm on irc again i'll mention that, sure. Regards Koepi

Thanks you guys from the development group for the quick release of the codec (i thought it would be released on July or even later...)
I have a question.... why has "deringing" been deleted from the postprocessing options in the decoder? I think it was a great improvement to the final quality of the video. Only was an opinion. And last, but not least, i have a doubt since i begun coding with Xvid; whenever i code a movie from a DVD, despite of the bitrate i use to encode, i always get distortioned border in blue and red surfaces. I attach here a sample where you can see what i say; see carefully the horizontal lines that appear as you approach the border of the suit. ![]() I thought it was codec fault, but it seems that it has nothing to do with the version... BTW, i encoded the same video using DivX, with the same filters, the same resolution and the same bitrate, and i got smoothed and good-looking borders ![]() Last edited by Magno; 17th May 2004 at 01:31. |
