Backup Multiple DVDs to SVCD

I bought Robotechs' Remastered DVD collection, for (me and) my nephew. But he is 8 years old, and i'm afraid he could scratch the DVDs, so i want to backup them to DVD, and i thought of ripping it to SVCD, DVD's players can play it, so i use less DVDs for it. Is it posible? Any how-to i can take a look? other options? Thanks.

PS: I have searched arround for "combine" but couldn't find anything usefull.

This is your first post in the Newbies forum, so, "Welcome to the forum!"

While it's not exactly what you're asking for, this tutorial on SVCD to DVD using DVD-lab will get you a long way toward where you'd like to be.

Make sure that you begin this test with DVD media that's compatible with both your burner and standalone player/s, that way, you'll take one of the wildcards out of the equation up front.
