sometimes seems avimux_gui is a little picky...
often is due to antivirus... or other running programs.. i suggest this secure procedure: load your file, set your options AND before click start encoding go to Advanced settings and check "Use FFmpeg Mux" then start your encode BHH

I hope in a future release to allow using virtualdubmod instead of avimux at least when creating avi (xvid) files.
Here is described one problem with the standalone: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...91#post1005791 Avimux is not good for SAP. The xvid sap profile is useless if using avimux. enjoy, Mtz |

Great program buzzqw, really. Thanks.
But I have 2 little issues/questions: 1. It seems to me (I'm a novice to this) that DGIndex is detecting wrong framerates. For example I have a DVD here which is PAL and DGIndex is detecting a framerate of 25.000 and thus Automkv uses 25fps. BUT the resulting encode isn't "fluent", meaning pan shots are choppy. And if I play the DVD in WMP 11 and choose "statistics" the player says: "Frame rate: 25fps" and "Actual frame rate: 24,4fps". When using MPC to play it, the VideoMixing Renderer says something about an avarage framerate of ~24,4 in the beginning and is increasing _slowly_ to 24,93 after 4 minutes, 24,97 after 8 minutes and then I aborted this. I have no idea what's the meaning of this, but maybe you do. 2. I'm a little bit confused about the deinterlacing. Is there any particular deinterlacingalgorithm you would recommend? And what would be the wisest choice to choose if the deint Test detects that ~half the frames are progressive and ~half are deinterlaced and ~half of them are BFF and the other half TFF? |

I've gotten that sometimes. Most of the time you just need to use the Decimating filter and see if that works. From experience, AutoMKV doesn't detect this very well (sorry buzzqw). Anime uses this, and so do some movies that were upconverted from 24fps progressive (or 23.97fps) to 29.97fps interlaced. (3:2) Open up the original video in MPC or something were you can step frames (and that hasn't gone through any deinterlacing). Step a few frames. If some are progressive (has no interlacing lines) and some are interlaced (you'll see it) then you need decimating, which I believe is called 3:2 pulldown. |

Sorry for being a newbie here, just literally installed the great software and was checking out the Wiki page. At the very bottom of the MT section, there is an update that makes it sound like there is no need for the script to be used anymore to get Dual Core speeds, is this correct ? I have downloaded version 0.84, does this mean I no longer need to update the software to make use of the extra speed with my E6400 Dual core with 2gb ram ? Thanks.

@wizboy11
well... i know... but isn't easy to detect hybrid movie i will glady accept suggestions! @JonRead no, i never included MT avisynth build. I can only suggest to check your CPUs usage, if over 80% (for all cpus) then MT isn't needed... if not.. use the MT approach BHH

I am trying to convert mkv and avi (Xvid) files to WMV. That works fine, but I can't get 5.1 audio. I press the exclamation marks, then choose audio codec: WMAPRO and Channels: 6, but the output audio is always WMA2 and 2-channel. BTW, I press WVC1_1_Pass_CBR profile first, then edit the audio.
How do I sort this out? And the video filters, do you reccomend using it? The source is HD x264 files, and I don't think they need touching up, so left it as NONE. Will I see any benefit using it, and how much longer will it take to encode say using "RemoveGrain(mode=2)" |

I am having an issue with Automkv where every file i try to convert to Avi(xvid), what it does is it converts the audio just fine but when it goes to convert video it just skips that part and goes staight to muxing. when it uses avi synth it just crashes, and when i tell it to use ffmpeg mux it just spits out file a little bigger then sorce audio file that won't play. All the sorces files i have used converted just fine in MkvMagic but i wanna use something that will allow them to batch encode.

the current workflow and avisynth don't support well the 5.1 output. maybe with avisynth 2.58 the waveextendedformat will be fixed. Quote:

I’ve got a strange problem. When I start encoding, and then for some reason turn off this process (for example I’ve forgot to do smth), then, if even I restart program, and start encoding it will convert audio but DOS windows with 1 and 2 pass video encoding will open for 1 sec and the close. To solve this problem I have to restart PC. Here is LOG http://vorob2.nm.ru/VTS_02_0.IFO.log
P.s. sorry for my eng, I’m Russian. |

try empting the \temp folder manually before start a new encoding i don't think is a issue of automkv... since after rebooting all is ok... EDIT: your crop is wrong... isn't mod4 the width ... use -8 as left crop BHH

Instead I decided to try just putting SetMTMode(2, 0) in the beginning and not closing it out. That way, everything below the SetMTMode gets multi-threaded, even if you use filters through AutoMKV (which previously didn't work). If your finding it confusing then just skip MT all together. It's unstable and can crash (often, but I'm trying around with different scripts, older ones, newer ones, they all seem to crash eventually, I just pick the one that crashes the least). There's a funny story to this too. I was encoding a hour long movie with a pretty complicated avisynth script. Took an hour for the first pass, and was ~95% done with the second pass (which had been running for a few hours), then it crashed on me . The speed improvment really isn't that great. At most your shaving off a few minutes on simple scripts, maybe a little more on more complicated ones. |
