Visualizing frames in VirtualDub as a filmstrip/timeline?

Is it possible to visualize frames as a continuous (say 5 frame) filmstrip/timeline in VirtualDub or Avidemux? If not, is there another preferably free program that can do this?

Also, is there any way to display audio (for example like the way audio tracks are displayed in Audacity) below the matching frame? I've recently learned to use VirtualDub and AvsPmod to begin editing a few dozen home video VHSC recordings (currently as avi files). I think I've synchronized the audio in one of the recordings with the video but the sound from one scene seems to carry over to the next.

I think visualizing the audio would help me to see if the sound ends when it is supposed to.

It also works for compressed audio formats like AC-3 or DTS, even with multi-channels tracks (at least up to 6 channels).

In latest version, Shekh has corrected the way audio waveforms are displayed, in a far better continuous way than previous versions.

Thank you Shirtfull and Leeloo Minaļ, the waveform is very helpful.

Is there any way to display two consecutive frames side by side, other than two instances of VirtualDub?

A note about waveform: I've only recently realised that it places the Right channel on top, going against the convention. I should probably sort that out one day, as well as add some support for more colourspaces.
