I would really like to know

Did you use exactly the filters shown in the demo picture (graphedit)? What filter did you use to save your raw data to disk?
Just let me know if you got some time...
Thanx

close captions

I'm having the same problem. At present I got a graphedit
filter which creates a file, which I hoped to process with
cc parser. However the file is empty.

The only direct show filters that appear to write files are
Dump (dump.ax, not on both my computers so I'm not sure
where I got it from) and filewriter (QCAP.DLL, on both
machines, probably a Windows standard). Both of them
demand a path before they load into a graph, and both of
them give empty files.

I'm using poperly registered, bought and payed for, DVD
video filters, which came with my software DVD player, but
I've also tried the free Frauenhoffer filters available on Doom.

Any help would be gratefully received.

One other comment. The Graphs I've made appear only to
play in real time; is there a faster way?

(Oh, why do I want this? Well there's a lot of Italian speech
in the Godfather, but I only want subtitles for this, not the
whole movie)

I step through the filters for both DVD VOB's and video capture cards here. For whatever odd reason, Dump works, and FileWriter doesn't. If you download GraphEdit from Doom9, it will include Dump. Please post if you have any questions.

P.S. I have't found any tools that will strip close captions and output a SCC file to reproduce the captions for Scenarist or Maestro (as opposed to capturing in real time, as the link above describes). If your goal is turning the captions into subtitles, Stream SubText should work (among others).
