Identity [Region 1] (Widescreen or Fullscreen) Cheat Sheet

Identity [Region 1] (Widescreen or Fullscreen) Cheat Sheet
Courtesy of 2CL

Tool I used:
IFOedit 0.95

Title 1: VTS_04_* is our Widescreen movie
Title 2: VTS_05_* is our Fullscreen movie

__________________________________________________________
1. Create a folder named “Identity” and a subfolder named “Files”.
__________________________________________________________
2. Rip the following files for your desired aspect ratio to your “MBFGW”folder.

WIDESCREEN: Rip all files except VTS_05_1.VOB to VTS_05_4.VOB.
FULLSCREEN: Rip all files except VTS_04_1.VOB to VTS_04_4.VOB
__________________________________________________________
3. Get VTS Sectors.
__________________________________________________________
4. Backup all IFO and BUP files to “Files” subfolder. It’s a good practice to backup your original files prior to editing. In case you mess up, you can always copy over your these files over your badly edited one and then press your “Get VTS Sectors” button to refresh data in IFOedit.

__________________________________________________________
5. Bypassing Unwanted Stuff

In VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMG Overview / Language Menu Unit 1, delete playback on the following menus separately. Select menu and press your Delete Playback button. If successful, your menu in question would result in a value of zero for number of Programs and Cells and (uses VOB-IDs: #) should disappear.

Language Menu Unit 1: [English]
Menu 1: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 1) Columbia Tristar Logo
Menu 2: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 2) Movie Rating
Menu 3: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 3) FBI Warnings
Menu 4: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 4) FBI Warnings

__________________________________________________________
6. Save IFO and BUP
__________________________________________________________
Select your aspect ratio preference
Code:
Widescreen
Theatrical Cut Only> Go to Step 7
Extended Version Only> Go to Step 9
Both Theatrical Cut and Extended Version with Menu> Go to Step 11
Full Screen > Go to Step 13
Note: Your Theatrical Cut and Extended version are using the same VOBs but if by personal preference that you must see only one widescreen version, then so be it. I would just like to highly recommend you keep both Widescreen version though, without any size difference, simply because you can.

Go to VTS_05_0.IFO / VTSM_PGCI_UT / PGC-Menu_5 / PGC Command Table. Hexedit Pre Command 52 as follows. Double left click on line to to bring up HexEdit Module. Hexedit with new value below and press OK.

Note: Your new command is actually your menu button’s command

8. We need to cut our DVD down to size and at the same time still keep our DVD structure intact. So this is what we will do.

Use this other guide on VTS_01 and VTS_05.
Your clip in VTS_01 is your comments prior to your movie start.

2COOL ~

This dvd looked kind of scary to backup - let me ask, how exactly did you come up with step #11? How did you know to link to program 6?

Another amazing lesson...

@scots22

I've been really busy of late so when I find the time and my DVD, I'll look into it. It's been a while since I wrote this guide.

Sounds good. I couldn't figure out how to handle the widescreen/full screen part of this movie at all. Your guide worked flawlessly.

Thanks for putting this guide out.

looks like a great guide, but having some issues...

I've spent about an hour trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong -- I just get a black screen when I select the option for either theatrical or extended. Any ideas on what I could have missed? Tried the steps for theatrical+extended, then tried just theatrical..using IFOEdit .96 (was on .94 but upgraded when i re-read the article, unfortunately didnt help).

Bleah! Thanks =)
