DVDpro (GradeA) ???

Anyone know what the "Grade A" means here? Meritline is selling these now. They're pretty cheap discs, but I'm curious what the Grade means here...some marketing gimmick?

Probably a meaningless phrase for hype. AFAIK, in America, the only thing that's graded anymore is eggs

I ordered these DVD-R's 'DVDPro Grade A' just to try, and burned 2 so far.

No problems burning, and they play in most of the latest DVD players.

Sony, Phillips, RCA, Apex, Daewoo, JVC no problems
DVDPro's worked in all the DVD players I tried at Target.

They are white with light purple dye, and the printing surface is protected with a white gloss finish. At $1.15 each in a 25 pack, it was worth a try. The 90 pack drops the price to $ 0.93 each. WOW!

I'm thinking about getting more cuz they work in most DVD players except the Toshibas!
I can't get them to work on the SD-4800 and KT-710 (Costco's selling it)
However it does work in the Toshiba SD-2800

Yep....went to Good Guys, Target, Circuit City and tried 'em all. Salesman always comes up and says 'Can I help you?" I say sure! Just want to make sure my discs work in these players.

Most of the time the salesman is blow away cuz he's wondering how can it be that a DVD, (not VCD) is playing. You can tell by the look on their face that they have never seen someone put a burned disc in to test and get DVD quality! The dude yesterday even wanted to know if the DD was there. So we took the disc to the HT in Good Guys and fired it up. Sure enough, AC-3 was pumping out the 5.1 Most work except the Toshiba's. Haven't decided which one to get yet.

At least that are my findings with the media I have, which are Ritek Gold (dark purple Dye) and the DVDPro (Silver, White top , light purple dye) all burne with a Pioneer 104 using Nero 5.5.9

I leaning towards the DVDPro's. I like the protected top and they seem to burn good.

I can not verify that there are no strange artificts or skipping, as I did not view the entire DVD-r on any of those machines. I just made sure it played, and I advanced to the end of the disc to check out the later chapters. Very Briefly.

Also the monitor was just a 20 inch regular TV. I can say however, that I did view 2-3 minutes on a Sony DVD player that feed a Sony 16:9 progressive direct view monitor. No problems seen, and 5.1 was perfect.

Hope this helps
