Only thing Im intrested in at the moment is what hardware decoding the RTX 2080 / 2080ti will have. Hopefully nvidia have given it totally up to date decoding ability.

why high setting downscaling is much less "hard-on-your-gear" than high setting upscaling?

Indeed, the decoder on the 1050/1050Ti/1080Ti leaves very little to be desired. I don't expect AV1 to be ready quite yet, so it may see performance improvements but what new features would they add to a decoder?

HDR auto-switching supported on latest Intel GPUs?

Hi,
Sorry if this is documented somewhere but I couldn't find it. Is HDR auto-switching supported on the latest Intel GPUs with the latest drivers?

I'm on a 980 so I would like to make sure they support 10 bit decoding etc.

No, madVR only supports the AMD and Nvidia APIs for HDR switching. I am not sure if Intel does not have one or if madVR simply does not support it.

every nvidia card since the 960 release date can do HEVC 10 bit.

so you ask for something that's a given for over 3.5 years.

I hate to sound like a Troll, but it is not really a madVR thread anymore. I think because it has matured or is maturing to a "paid" app eventually, that is it is going that way.

But hey who am I to mock someone that has put his heart and soul into something as good as it is, and is going to be. Good luck to him.

every command from madshi about a paid version was about a paid version and a free version.

I think 960 has a newer video processing unit (or whatever it is called) than 970&980 - the latter only supports hybrid decoding:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia...n_PureVideo_HD
But this is a hardware limitation so it obviously can't be fixed by sw and even if it could be madVR is a renderer, not a decoder, so wrong thread

DW, if there are OT posts the discussion generally doesn't last long.. We've discussed hardware/software decoders on here a few times with it being part of the video playback chain and all no biggie.

Yeah huhn can be direct but he's also one of the more helpful and knowledgeable people here so \_(ツ)_/

Now that they're announced the speculating can begin on how the RTX 2070, 2080, and 2080 Ti will perform compared to the existing cards with MadVR. Is it simply about FLOPS, or do some of the big architectural changes totally change the calculation?

The new GPUs are focusing on AI and this could end up being a good thing thing for MadVR.

Maybe we can have some implementation on that per pixel calculation that AI will do in games.

Let's see. I'm going to replace my 1080Ti with a 2080Ti

polaris performs terrible with NGU and the gflop are clearly not bad at all.

nnedi was running much better on GCN 1-2 than fermi kepler and that with a hand break.

so no we sadly have to wait and see.
