VirtualDub Error:Can't open the file temp.avi because it is in use by some other proc

Hi All,

I am just splitting the error messages.

I am getting the following error:

Code:
VirtualDub Error:
Can not open file temp._Movie.avi. The process can not access the file because it is being used by some other process.
I know that Norton Anti Virus causes this. I have McAfee though. I wanted to know if anything else can cause the error.

Thanks and hoping for the reply

There are quite a lot of processes I don't know here.

I'm just thinking of something : Antiviruses like to scan a file before it's allowed to be viewed/opened by the user. If ever your antivirus takes too much time to close the file descriptor, this is the sort of thing that will happen anyway.

I can suggest 2 quick solutions :
1) disable your antivirus while encoding (which you might not want to do if you're browsing while surfing).
2) set your antivirus not to scan audio/video files (you might have to add some file extensions manually to an ignore list) : .avi/.mp4/.mkv/.ogm/.mp3/.ogg/.ac3/.aac/.d2v/.vob/.ifo and much more
