So my best start would be MeGUI. Are there any extra command lines i have to put when encoding video games, I don't care how big it will be. I'm actually looking about 100mb per minute.

AiDz0r: Neither your user title nor your signature render correctly for me with any browser I have installed. But they stretch your posts and make the page scroll horizontally.

AiDz0r, as per forum rules there is no best. MeGUI as well as other GUIs are a matter of personal taste. Use what you like more. However, MeGUI supports almost all x264 commandline options, so no need to specify extra commandline options. I'd start playing with presets and tunings.

here too ...

Windows 7 / SP1
MeGUI 1981

preprocessing took about 25 min before audio encoding started.

only tested with AAC encoding (Winamp & Nero)

still a known issue?

If you check the Normalize option we need 2 pass to do the job:
1st pass (preprocessing) to know the max volume value.
2nd pass (encode) to encode the audio with the max volume allowed.

sillKotscha: Please post the log. I assume that you have preprocessing activated.

Hello, I found a problem about the interface. Check the attachment. The interface is ugly while DPI is set to 120.

The interface is in general ugly. Unless we find a good GUI designer this is the way it is.

I don't mind functional and simple UIs (there is software where you miss the features over all the UI effects) ... but the squeezed edit lines and buttons are funny. Do they have too many resizer anchors?

If I'm running MeGUI 1911 (32-bit) under 64-bit Windows, will MeGUI automatically use the 64-bit version of x264 that I see it has downloaded to C:\Program Files\MeGUI\tools\x264\x264_64.exe or do I need to somehow tell it specifically to use that rather than the 32-bit version. If so, how would I do that? thanks

@ Lighto & Tuik - Thanks very much. I missed that because it's greyed out here in 32-bit XP. I'm writing a tutorial and want to mention 64-bit mode. By the way, is there any official, current 64-bit version of MeGUI?

Not very sure of the details.
AFAIK, one is required to use all 64bit filters in their work flow when using the 64bit version of MeGUI.

This YouTube video was rendered with x264 in MeGUI following this tutorial precisely. Does anyone have any idea why the levels in the first couple of seconds are wrong? Are there any x264 or MeGUI settings that affect that? No problem with offline playback of the file in VLC.

The first three seconds of an x.264 MP4 created with MeGUI 1911 and uploaded today to YouTube has its levels completely screwed up:

Nutcracker Highlights

It will only take about five seconds of your time to see the problem. You will note that the levels return to normal at exactly the first scene transition which makes me think something is wrong in the way the initial GOP is formed.

However, the MP4 plays perfectly on my computer using the VLC media player.

Here are the video settings used:

Code:
program --profile main --level 3.1
--crf 19.2 --deblock -2:-1 --keyint 300
--min-keyint 29 --bframes 2 --b-pyramid none
--no-weightb --ref 2 --weightp 0
--qpmin 3 --subme 6 --trellis 0
--no-mixed-refs
--output "output" "input"
I'm using the LAME MP3-128ABR preset for the video.

I got these video settings from an excellent MeGUI tutorial, but am wondering if any of the changes from default could be causing the problem. I think the following is an accurate summary of the changes from the x.264 scratchpad defaults:

GOP size increased from 250 to 300
Min GOP size increased from 25 to 29
Weighted prediction for B-frame unchecked
Number of B-frames decreased from 3 to 2
B-Pyramid changed from Normal to Disabled
Number of Reference Frames changed from 3 to 2
P-frame Weighted Prediction changed from Smart to Disabled
Min in Quantizers changed from 0 to 3

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

[edit] I just noted that while I was posting, Nick (who wrote the tutorial) posted about the same subject:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...75#post1482275

This isn't exactly a double or cross-post, since we are two different people, and since I am providing a lot more detail, I'll keep my post. I just wanted everyone to make the connection between the two posts.[end edit]
