yes, AutoGK doesn't support MKV.

I don't understand why do we have to install a stable release and then the beta release to use the beta. Why don't you build a beta package without the need to install the stable one first?

plus update: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/v...9.zip?download

P.S. Can I get hold of sample TS file from you somehow?

*EDIT* Does exclamation mark in the path make any difference for VDubMod I wonder...
The TS file is over 3GB, I don't know how to practically get it to you.

I don't beleive that the ! in the path could be causing the problem because I have successfully encoded an mpg file in the same directory as the ts file.

I upgraded to AGK1.56 and tested on the ts file with the same result.

I download the versions of VDubMod and replaced the folder in the AGK folder. Testing the TS file again with the new versions resulted in the same problem:

problem with 720p transport streams

Hi, I am using AutoGK 1.56 beta to convert 1080i and 720p HDTV Transport Streams (.tp) to Xvid with AC3, with the width of the video resized to 720 pixels. The 1080i encodes are coming out very well with compressability in a normal range (40-50%) and with the desired file size of about 17 MB per minute, but the 720p encodes are looking very bad at similar file size with compressability half of 1080i! Then I noticed that the converted 1080i was playing at ~29.970 fps, while the 720p conversions were playing at ~59.940. Yes, I know that this is the native framerate of many 720p sources, but isn't it normal when encoding such sources to Xvid/Divx to decimate every other frame? I wonder if such a high framerate is the cause of the bad compressability. Thanks for any suggestions,

lazyn00b

Hi submax, and welcome to the forum-

You can get the bitrate for the finished movie from GSpot. I don't know that there's any way to tell the bitrate in advance, for a 1-pass quality encode.

Coz ppl would scream if they have to download more that 6Mb every time I release new beta. Update right after stable release is supposed to be very small usually - only now many things changed, but stable version coming soon anyway.

Feedback, requests and opinions

Hello, all.

- maximum width setting can now be larger than source width
Thanks for that. I've already re-encoded two movies and the extra width (I got a width higher than the source but lower than my 768px max) gives excellent results.

- DVD/File mode setting is now persistent across several runs of AutoGK
Very nice. If I dare to ask (I'll keep doing it until Len0x tells me to shut up ) it would also be user-friendly if the file open dialog remembered the selected file type:

- MPEG2 Video files(*.vob,*.m2v,*.mpeg,*.mpg)
- Transport Streams(*.ts,*.tp,*.trp,*.m2t)

or if simply both types were merged under a "Supported input formats" type.

Concerning .ts multifile inputs, I usually get a set of files like this one:

  Brubaker.ts
  Brubaker.ts.001
  Brubaker.ts.002
  Brubaker.ts.003

and I have to rename them for AutoGK like this:

  Brubaker_1.ts
  Brubaker_2.ts
  Brubaker_3.ts
  Brubaker_4.ts

I don't know if that's a job for AutoGK or DGIndex, but it would save the additional renaming step if this other sequence naming pattern was recognized.

And finally, about the recent request about the bitrate, I think it would mostly confuse the novice user AutoGK targets. And if you don't mind using an extra program, PVAStrumento tells you the bitrate of .vob, .mpg and .ts files.

Regards,

It certainly is. Starting with version 1.54 AutoGK is not longer automatically bringing fps down by SelectEven() like it used to. It check for dupes and should be able to extract 24fps sources from it. I don't have any examples where 30fps source should be used (i.e. every second frame is a dupe), so I can't implement this yet. There are quite a few "real" 60fps sources without dupes that will look really jerky with 30fps... So I don't know what is the material you're dealing with, may be you can supply me with a small sample.

P.S. There is a smart way to bring down fps for large number of cases via FDecimate(), so I'll do some tests and may be add this as a hidden option.

DGIndex only recognizes one pattern for automatic pick up of files...

first of all thanks for AutoGK, it gets better with every new release!

I've just encoded some animes and after that I played a little bit with the new GK. Would it be possible to add the avisynth dup plugin to the .avs script if there is a .cartoon file?

I get's much better rips with this plungin in my scripts!

Thanks

In that case allow me to offer a silly workaround. I just did a DOS batch file, tsrename.bat that does the job:

ren *.ts.008 *_9.temp
ren *.ts.007 *_8.temp
ren *.ts.006 *_7.temp
ren *.ts.005 *_6.temp
ren *.ts.004 *_5.temp
ren *.ts.003 *_4.temp
ren *.ts.002 *_3.temp
ren *.ts.001 *_2.temp
ren *.ts     *_1.temp
ren *.temp   *.ts

I'm sure it must have some secondary effect I'm not aware of. But I use it in a directory containing only the files I want to rename and it works.

Hope it helps someone

Dup Filter for Avisynth:
"This is intended for use in clips that have a significant number of duplicate content frames, but which differ due to noise. Typically anime has many such duplicates. By replacing noisy duplicates with exact duplicates, a bitrate reduction can be achieved."

I've tried it and it worked fine.
don't know if it is useful in general, but i think so.

you could visit http://www.neuron2.net/dup/dupnew.html for more information!
