One of them smells better. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Is it really so difficult to enter "www.vapoursynth.com" in your browser and read the "About" page?

From what I understand, VapourSynth is fresh code that is better in every way, except one detail.

Tons of filters were written for AviSynth only. Including NNEDI3, EEDI3, InterFrame and many others.

Also different scripting syntax, avisynth has it's own which is quite simple and easy to get into (reminded be a lot of php when i started with avisynth), where vapoursynth uses python which IMHO are more difficult to get into for beginners but also provides more flexibility and advanced functionality.

Simple: avisynth is good for users and bad for developers, vapoursynth is bad for users and good for developers.
Fite me.

I remember a similar question from my youth, (lots and lots of weeks ago):

---

What's the difference between an elephant ?

Answer:

One of its legs is both the same.

---

I understood neither the question, nor the answer.

I like that.

I would love to get into vs more. Just need a good 14 hour nap and a large pot of coffee before I go off reading everything and trying it out.

Me brain hurts. That hurt my brain.

I think it's time for that 14 hour nap.

Nothing against Vapoursynth but the notion you kids nowadays have that everything older than 10 or 15 years is inherently bad gets tiresome and shows incredible ignorance.

By the way, it's 'VapourSynth', not 'Vaporsynth'. You're taking the "americanisation" of words a bit far.
Lastly, Avisynth is not from the 90's, the earliest version is from 2002 (if I recall correctly).

But code/features looks like 80s/90s: no 64bit, no multi-threading, no more than 8bit colorspaces. And every time you try to go against any of that, you will get smashed by poor support, poor interoperability and a plethora of bugs/crashes.

Btw, neither I have anything against avisynth.

It was more a general observation, not just about Avisynth.

and Myrsloik, the author of "Vapoursynth" is not against "Vaporsynth", so that's no big deal

I like VapourSynth just the way it is. Also, the python module is called vapoursynth, as well as the website, so my opinion even makes (some) sense!
