Reclock ( http://reclock.free.fr/ ) will do exactly what you're looking for. It is a DirectShow filter so it works in most directshow-based media players (Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic, etc). Reclock looks at the current refresh rate and sets the video framerate to an integer multiple of it to ensure the smoothest playback (for example 72Hz is good for 24fps because 24 x 3 = 72). If you don't care about the refresh rate thingy you can just force it to almost any framerate you want.
I have 1024x768 @ 120Hz for NTSC and FILM video playback and 1280x960 @ 100Hz for PAL stuff. For Reclock to automatically slow down PAL films for 120Hz modes, run config.exe in your ReClock directory, go to "Video Settings" tab and increase "Accepted slowdown of media speed in PCM mode (in %)" from 1 to 5. If you want to completely disable ReClock without uninstalling it, uncheck "Set ReClock as preferred renderer" under "Audio settings" tab. Last edited by reepa; 31st August 2005 at 05:29. |

Use the DirectShow Plugin in Winamp to decode AVIs. Stick the extensions in the plugin and it'll work. Honest!!

If I understand correctly ffdshow is a xvid codec with postprocessing stuff. That may be the reason it works with winamp. ReClock is a renderer and winamp uses its own renderer, right? That's all a little bit f***ed up for me because winamp is still my favourite but life goes on.
ReClock is really great. Finaly I can watch all with 24fps. But timestretching degrades the quality quite a lot. I wonder if it is possible to improve that somehow. Last edited by iZac; 6th September 2005 at 12:59. |

This has also a great advantage, you get correct pitch in PAL dvds. Now I only could see dvds with reclock, because the pitch speedup is very annoying. |
