Public Multiformat Listening Test @ ~96 kbps [July 2014]. AAC, MP3, Vorbis and Opus
Hello,
There is a new public test Three years have passed since the last multiformat listening test. The development of Opus was very active in 2013, and Apple have refined their AAC encoder in the last three years. Today it's time to see their advance in this test. The following codecs will be tested:
http://listening-test.coresv.net/ There are 40 samples. From this test, the webpage automatically allocates listeners to odd group and even group, and each listener tests odd samples or even samples. The Test ends on August 30th, so please don't hurry. It's better to do fewer samples per day and avoid a fatigue. Every single result is helpful. Your participation will be very valuable. Thank you IgorC for taking the time to organize this listening test! For those that didn't look at the results, Opus won, followed by AAC, then Ogg Vorbis, and then MP3.
Ogg Vorbis and Opus has been supported in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera for some time now for HTML5 audio; but Internet Explorer lags behind, still supporting neither format. I would be grateful for everyone who would take a minute to help HTML5 compatibility and better web audio quality by voting for Ogg Vorbis and Opus support in Internet Explorer. You may even find other exciting things there to vote for too! Those who are interested, please help spread the word via Facebook/Twitter/website. Thank you all for your consideration and time!
