BeSweet v1.5b2/4 adds click to ogg output.
When transcoding a WAV file to ogg using BeSweet 1.5b2 or 1.5b4 I get a click a the very end of the file. It's definately not a playback problem, when opening the file using GoldWave you can see that click. And the click is _not_ in the WAV. Here is the logfile, if it helps:

I just went back to BeSweet 1.4 and found out that it also appends this click to the end of the file. I suppose I just haven't noticed before. But still I think, the problem is related to BeSweet, because there is no click when saving the WAV as OGG in GoldWave. Also it is _not_ related to the -ota or -boost switches. A simple -core( -input -output ) -ogg( -q 0.5 ) also produces the click.
Edit: Ok, I changed my mind . It's not BeSweet related. The 'oggenc', that comes with the vorbis tools also gives me this click. Why???? Last edited by SirElvis; 2nd November 2002 at 21:41. |

Nope. I ripped all chapters and then converted to WAV to edit the file. No incomplete rip, and no click in the original file.
I've continued to make some tests. Here's what I found out:

Ok, I think I finally found the problem. I simply got a WAV file(converted from a AC3 using besweet) and encoded it to ogg. I noticed that there is _NO_ click at the end. So I opened the WAV in GoldWave and just saved it again with another filename but non changes to the audio. After converting it to ogg the click was again there. So I compared the file sizes and they were different. The file saved by GoldWav is a few bytes bigger. So I compared the with a hex editor and found out that GoldWave appended the following to the file(all non ASCII chars removed):
Code:
LISTB INFOISFT5 GoldWave (C) Chris S. Craig, http://www.goldwave.com I hope BeSweet, will be modified to ignore this data, because I'm pretty used to GoldWave as a audio editor. I've attached a file containig the last few bytes of the WAV file. |

BeeSweet 1.4/1.5 BUG: Clicks at end
On some tracks my compilations ac3/wav to mp2 ended with clicks.
Now I have done some tests to nail this damned bug. Finally I reduced the problem to a simple wav to wav conversion. It seems there is a bug in the stream buffer. The encoded tracks are filled up with some noise samples. My system: P4 2000, Win XP. I attached a wav that makes that trouble. @frank
you have the same problems as SirElvis', your source wave file includes garbage (metadata) at the end of it. use StripWav to fix this, or wait until i find the time to play with it.

Tnx, and a happy new year!
That short wav attachment I cutted from a large wav with the help of ce2000 pro. The large one was generated by BeSweet. Metadata on the end? Very strange. EDIT: From Internet Quote:
