Next date for Recode w/ H.264 update?

In my other thread about the Nero gift for beta testers, it was said that the H.264 encoder would be included in the November update release at the end of the month. Does anyone know if there is a firm date that it will be available? I have a ton of videos for use on my website and its members and wanted to use H.264 and would like to be able to give my members a heads up on when they can expect the use of this awesome format.

Thanks.

just out of curiosity, may i ask whats your site ?
if you doing it comercialy you would have to pay MPEG LA for this
im not sure if H.264 falls into the 2008 MPEG-4 ASP regulation

Nah, I wish I was, I would be making bank then. Actually its a site for amatuer indie videos that a non profit I run shoots. Its an afterschool program that teaches kids how to shoot video since hardly any high schools teach this type of stuff.

Though I can see the adult market take to the format quickly especially with the smaller file sizes and increased quality. H.264's future looks awesome.

Seriously, there is no link to post as of yet as we are waiting to use H.264 for the videos. Otherwise, we will need to rewrite code to support WM9.

Trust me, if I ran a porn site, Id have no problem posting a link on a forum and get free advertising. However, once the site does indeed go live, please visit it and see what some of tomorrow's film makers have in store for our future. There are some very talented writers/directors that will never see the Hollywood type money or exposure.

alternative

If you have enough calculation power available (school project), why not encoding the files twice?
Just start right now using x264 codec, and if you are really not satisfied with what you get, you can encode the same clips once more with athemas h264 codec, once it is available.
Only issue with x264 up to now: No encoding application that i know of can encode audio and video directly to mp4 container.
For avi-encodeing, you can use mencoder (see thread mencoder+x264), and for avi, ogm, mkv you should be able to use VirtualDubMod together with ffdshow. For getting h264 into mp4 you need to write the raw video (and audio) stream to you hd and mux it afterwards. See the sticky FAQ for the tools, and hope that you get no problems with the a/v sync.

I got a private message saying it should be released by the end of the week. I dont know if it was from someone on the development team but thats what I was told.

I was also told that we will now be able to export to Nero Digital from inside Vision Express. Thank God.

tell me about it. We lost everything we had in the hurricanes this past summer so in essence, H.264 is my Christmas present as we dont have any money left over to buy gifts for each other. How pathetic is that? LOL.

Nope, we didnt have insurance. Renter's insurance is high and when the Canes were heading for Florida we tried to get insurance but was told that we couldnt since hurricane damage was imminent. We still have our health but it just kind of sucks with losing everything you worked hard to acquire all because of mother nature and her three nasty canes.
