Where does it crash ? Lav splitter or audio or video ?
If you have LAV filters installed, unreg LAV-video and see if it still crashes.
If it still crashes, then unreg Lav-audio and check again.
Let us know the results from this small test.

note: don't manually unreg the splitter, it will never work if you do so.
Use always un-install to remove the splitter !

I'm not sure about partial.
But with this sample the VPU is used with my VP4:
http://videos.rockstargames.com/stre...4-1280.wmv.zip

Does this sample work with VP2 and DXVA?
If not, does it work with driver 275.33?
Then I could try to report it.

The fourth screenshot seems to indicate its a RAR File Source problem.
It complains there is no media inside.

And no, there is no chance that LAV will handle RARs. Mostly because i think its stupid to keep your files packed in rar archives.

I wonder if you can help me to troubleshoot an issue I am having?

I want to use LAV with CUVID hardware acceleration, and i bought a GT430 passive for the purpose.

I run Mediaportal in single seat and also a second client. I use LAV for movies, and PDVD12 for live tv.

If I play a movie in the living room (single seat) using LAV codec, then the live tv stream to the client, and any tv recordings on the single seat break up and pixellate.

I did some troubleshooting and determined that the problem only exists if I have CUVID hardware acceleration switched on. Not sure why this could be?

Any idea how to troubleshoot this? I'm using Windows 7 and the tesla (276.52 I think) drivers, although have also tried the latest normal Nvidia drivers and have the same problem.

It's baffling me!

A VC-1 sample that can be played by the WMP without extensions (maybe in a mp4 container?) could be helpful.
im not sure, but you have to be pretty vigilant when you are checking for artifacts, it only happens occasionally.

Always crash on start, double click on file and down.
I unreg LAV-video and LAV-audio trough BSPlayer and now works fine.
In fact,Lav-video decoder cant unreg in BSPlayer,i put that on black list.

Whats a good place to upload a ~200mb file? I took a 1 min cut from the dark knight bluray to an mkv file. Just need to upload it somewhere suitable.

I have taken note of the sections of the clip that show distortions / blockyness with vc-1 vp2, which are fine with non cuda decoders (and fine with older drivers < 285 release). Heres the details of drivers where I found it worked, and after which it didn't work.

Nvidia Driver - Cuda dll version - Status
285.62 - 8.17.12.8562 - broken
285.38 - 8.17.12.8538 - broken
285.27 - 8.17.12.8527 - broken
280.36 - 8.17.12.8036 - working
280.26 - 8.17.12.8026 - working

did you tried to only replace the nvcuvid.dll of 285.62 with that of 280.36 or better just move that into the lavfilters folder where lavvideo is located, though i dunno out of my mind if 280 and 285 share the same cuda version so this might fail.

Yeah I tried that a while back when testing. No luck unfortunately. My machine didn't behave very well when mixin old dlls. I guess some people might not even notice the issue. It can be subtle.

MS VC-1 decoder seems to (only) support partial acceleration?

no deinterlacing with CUVID

ok when madVR took over the job

PS: MS renderers also failed.. MPC-HC's MPEG-2 Video Decoder(SW) seems ok.

Does anyone know if LAV DXVA2 Native works with EVR on an AMD E-350 (Brazos)? If so, what can it handle? 1080i with decent deinterlacing?

I don't know what artifacts should I see, but it seems OK to me ... (madvr, lav cuvid, mpc-hc, driver 296.10, on VP2)

Mediainfo indicates its AC3 but actually DTS.

haali and MPC's splitter can correctly recognize it as DTS, would LAV do some workaround?

Downloading that file would take 7 hours, please use a smaller file or a faster host.

My fault, I forgot to cut it smaller.

Try this:http://www.mediafire.com/?c7pco795rtrot5m

PS:Mediafire(or most other foreign hosts) is not available until I crossed the "government firewall", so the uploading speed is very slow to me.. That's the reason why I always using a Chinese local host as my premier choice.
Sad to hear you say that new host is too slow for you.

Well, I submitted several bug reports about MPEG-4 CUVID acceleration problems.

I used this feedback form.

Quote from the fixed issues in 301.24

LAV was mentioned in the NVIDIA release notes.
I should install 301.24 later, see how things work (on 301.10 right now)
I can confirm that they fixed MPEG-4 ASP issue, I tried several samples and they played just fine.
