How to install and use it ?
Can we capture in this format ? I use Lagarith usually.

ffvhuff = huffyuv + "adaptive huffman tables" + support for all the color formats ffmpeg supports

comes with ffmpeg,... argh typo is hiding the option-tab of ffvhuff
(tab shows if UT-Video is selected,... argh -> select UT-Video, then select FFVHuff)

since it's part of ffmpeg/ffdshow/libav I see no reason against that.

yes, the installer includes ffmpeg. (I compile up-to-date builds before new releases using: https://github.com/jb-alvarado/media-autobuild_suite <- easy to use)

I guess you are talking about Hybrid, but I'm searching for an installer for ffmpeg, to use it with any program, not only Hybrid.

I don't find links or explanations on this page, github is a confusing website, I prefer videohelp or sourceforge.
edit : I found the link below, it should be placed on top of the page.

I'd like to use ffvHuff with my capture card with the program Virtual VCR (and maybe also virtual Dub).
Installing ffdshow and enabling the vfw encoders should help there. (Your PM storage is full)

"Download zip"

Ok, but I don't use it anymore.
The ffmpeg developers should release this codec alone, to use it as simply as Lagarith, Xvid, x264...
I downloaded media-autobuild_suite and I read the explanation but it's not clear for me (he doesn't explain how to choose the path of the exe to compile and it seems to install other tools I don't need) and it needs 3 hours to compile
I don't understand why a so known program isn't available with an installer usable by anybody, as all programs, it's discouraging.

media-autobuild_suite is a large scrit ment to build multiple sources from source, so the inital build will take a long time, later it's faster (initially the build environment itself needs to be build,..)

Ok, so that's not for me.
But I found another tutorial ;
http://www.eric-pidoux.com/tutoriaux...us-windows-mac
Thus I put the 3 exe in the folder C:\ffmpeg and added this folder in the path list in Environment Variables.
But it's not enough to use the ffvhuff codec which does not appear in the codec list in Virtual Dub.

You use ffvhuff with Virtual Dub, you either need to:
a. call ffmpeg through the external encoder feature of Virtual Dub (with the right parameters)
or
b. use ffdshow

Thanks, I didn't know the external encoder feature of Virtual Dub, usually I go in video, compression and select a codec in this list.
In options, external encoders, I see encoders sets and encoders but I don't understand how to add ffvhuff, I will make research.

a. look how Hybrid calls ffmpeg for encoding with ffvhuff
b. read http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=18840&st=0 (and if that isn't enough there are a bunch of examples over in the videohelp forum about using the external encoder)
c. adapt the encoder call with the call from a.

https://encodingtalk.com/threads/virtualdub-save-direct-to-mp4-fraps-to-youtube-with-external-encoders.2446/page-2 <- about using ffmpeg with Virtual Dub
simply searching for:
  • Virtual Dub external encoder x265
  • Virtual Dub external encoder x264
  • Virtual Dub external encoder ffmpeg
  • Virtual Dub external encoder MP4Box
should produce lots of useful results with your favorite search engine.

Thanks for your research (I did the same before to write my previous post) but none of these threads explain clearly how to configure Virtual Dub for ffvhuff.
I will have a look at Hybrid's call.

The last Hybrid rev (2014.6.30.1) does not want to launch on Windows XP Pro 32, there is a message about QSVEncC.exe. Same message when I restart, again and again.
Actually Hybrid works if I remove QSVEncC.exe.

You are right, totally forgot about QSVEnc. Will remove QSVEnc from Hybrid for Windows XP (like I do for Vista), since it requires Windows 7 or never.

Ok.
I made a short encoding in ffvHuff with Hybrid, the bitrate is much higher than Lagarith's.
And I believe I won't be able to capture in ffvHuff because my capture tool is old and probably not ffvHuff compatible. And I can't use another capture program because Virtual VCR is the only one to be able to bypass my card's mpeg encoder and capture in lossless, so I will continue to use Lagarith for captures.

Not surprised by that, iirc ffvHuff should be faster (during capturing and playback) but than lagarith, but should not compress as good.
