BD standalone results/tests on DVDR of AVCHD, BD, FULLBD, CROPPED, HDAUDIO

THE TEST
1. For AVCHD, NEWBD, OLDBD, C1080, C720, DTSHD, THD you can download test samples from sendspace / mediafire (23MB) and burn the isos with imgburn. If burning to DVD+R make sure booktype is set to DVD-R. In order for FULLBD testing you need to process an original BD with BD-Rebuilder

2. Try playing avchd.iso, newbd.iso, oldbd.iso, avchd_aux.iso, avchd_strict.iso (results try to be as accurate as can be but aren't guaranteed)

3. If avchd.iso plays test avchd-crop720.iso, avchd-crop1080.iso, avchd-dtshd.iso, avchd-truehd.iso
If avchd.iso doesn't play but newbd.iso plays test newbd-crop720.iso, newbd-crop1080.iso, newbd-dtshd.iso, newbd-truehd.iso

4. When testing FULLBD if it doesn't play with default output run the index.bdmv through goBD and try again.

4. Report what plays and what doesn't. In order for the the crop iso's to be considered playable they have to show a round circle centered on the screen and and no video artifacts. For FULLBD please report if there is any thing in BDMV/JAR directory. Thanks in advance.

@turbojet: Just a note about popBD. It used the old blu-ray in tsmuxer, now it's using the new avchd.

Ya I see that but outside of the mpls/clpi header change popBD default output is identical to OLD-BD.

AVCHD output removes the empty folders which seems to be the only effective difference to OLD-BD so far.

New Bluray output to BD5 (DVD+R):

works on Sony BDP-S350

doesn't work on Samsung BD-P1500 -*** Works if you remove AUXDATA.

So Samsung has media detection first (DVD vs. Bluray) and then won't play content on DVD unless AUXDATA is not present.

Sounds like a good idea but after doing some research there's quite a bit of misinformation the manufacturers websites so it may just complicate things that much more.

davsim: Regarding the crop does it appear just like the iso's that aren't cropped?

I've never personally tested the fixed crop hack but from what I can remember cropped video on the players I tested either didn't play at all, the video was at the top and was often cut off or it had a green bar.

Pardon my confusion:
For the first time i tried to burn a bd-5 (dvd 5, whatever you want to call it) using imgburn. I wanted to play back on my ps3. I converted my file using tsmuxer 1.8.35 selecting blu-ray output (not AVCHD). I used UDF2.50 in imgburn. The ps3 says the disc is a data disc, not a BD.
File root should be
<drive>\BDMV
<drive>\CERTIFICATE

The m2ts file will play on the ps3.
The movie (if I create with AVCHD to USB drive and split @ 4G) will play on the ps3.
The movie seems to play and is recognized as a BD using powerdvd.
I tried to follow instructions from bitburners (of course the url won't load at all for me right now, so I can't check).

I have, in the recent past created many images which play fine as AVCHD off of a USB drive. So I am comfortable with that.
ps3 is firmware 2.60
So, anything I obviously missed? Do you have to convert to AVCHD to play on the ps3? I can't really tell from the above, but it looks like I should be able to play the disc if i use tsmuxer 1.8.34 (I used .35) and created a BD disk. Is that correct? Since the mt2s plays fine on the ps3, and I can create an AVCHD which plays ok from the same encode, I don't think it should be the x264 settings I used (which are within profile 4.1). The encode is 1280x720, but I don't think that should be a problem.
Any other suggestions? I'd rather not burn 10 coasters trying to get the correct settings.

Burn your DVD with AVCHD option in tsmuxer (not that it makes sense if you can use USB drive).

I didn't notice an obvious difference, but I was testing with output set to letterbox 4:3 on an SDTV. I didn't see any major visual glitches.

Added 1280x528 cropped samples named with -720 because some players may display this resolution at 720x576/480 and/or 4:3 aspect ratio.
Added a mirror and compressed the zip from 8 MB to 1 MB.

Panasonic DMP-BD60:

I tried your new avchd-crop-720 and it played, but there was no image. It was just a blank black screen, but the the time counter was moving forward and I could fast forward, pause and play.

Interesting that 1920x800 played but the 1280x528 didn't. Maybe it's seeing 528 and trying to play as 720x576 but it's getting confused by the 1280 width.

I don't believe there are issues with discs that contain PIP tracks turbojet.

I firmly believe the problem here is solely the fault of BD-Rebuilder. I also suspect that all other SAPs would exhibit exactly the same behaviour it's just that nobody has tried those "problematic discs" (for BD-Rebuilder).

What do you base that on? While it very well may be true (I have no clue either way) I'm just curious if there is evidence (ie working PIP produced by pro bluray authoring software written to the SAME media tested on the SAME stb) or is it a gut feeling (which I can then safely ignore)
