i highly recommend REJIG (freeware) to remux the files instead of ifoedit. it gives you the option to do it on NTSC, as it has been documented that ifoedit cant do it.

This whole process of adding an audio-stream is completely mechanical (no decisions to make...). Is there a change of automating this (at least partially) any time soon?
Either by extending one (or more) of the tools used (IfoEdit, VobEdit, ReJig).
Or by writing a tool that uses the other tools and does the rest automatically?

Why i ask for this?
See this thread for more:
Downrate audio?

Greetings,
Malcolm

When adding an extra subtitle stream there are few other steps involved?
Iam adding subs to notsubbed dvd. Followed ur steps even added subid to video_ts.ifo.
Still not able to select them.

EDIT: Forgot to remove user prohibits, its all ok now.

4 days gone

5 days ago i have trouble with adding new audio to NTSC DVD.

IFOedit authoring DVD don't understand correct NTSC timing on CellTimes.txt. original DVD - 15 cells ; reautored 12 cells.
and when i lost huge time (all this days while wait 4 day pause after registering on forum.doom9.org) i try rejig. Rejig made all correct!!

PS: How i need correct original IFO if i add new sub to DVD?
Code:
[0000001c] Sub-Picture stream 1 status -2147483648 [80000000]
           Sub-Picture stream 1 uses steream nr.(4:3) 0
           Sub-Picture stream 1 uses steream nr.(wide) 0
           Sub-Picture stream 1 uses steream nr.(letterbox) 0
           Sub-Picture stream 1 uses steream nr.(pan&scan) 0
[00000020] Sub-Picture stream 2 status -2147483648 [80010101]
           Sub-Picture stream 2 uses steream nr.(4:3) 1
           Sub-Picture stream 2 uses steream nr.(wide) 1
           Sub-Picture stream 2 uses steream nr.(letterbox) 1
           Sub-Picture stream 2 uses steream nr.(pan&scan) 1
[00000024] Sub-Picture stream 3 status 0 [00000000]
what i mast set on [00000024] Sub-Picture stream 3 status[/b]

and what i mast do if i want swap 1 SUB with new one and place 1 to 3

I think there's something wrong in your post: according to the hex value your Subpictures-stream 2 status should be -2147549441, and not the same as stream 1. I think you should edit the status value of stream 3 so that hex is 80020202, and so to -2147615234.
To swap the subtitles, just swap the two stream status values.
BTW, I'll soon edit the guide to something like "Adding an audio/subtitle stream to an existing titleset"

It's very simple: 80020202 is an hexadecimal value, 2147615234 is the corresponding decimal value (I just used Windows calculator)

You may edit the subpic and audio stream status easily with PgcEdit, in the PGC Editor. You will see the real stream assignments, not a cryptic hex number converted to a negative decimal!

I've tried this method but the audio in the re-authored dvd is out of sync. I pretty new to this whole thing but I assume that the new audio has to be the same length as the movie.
Is there a way I can insert a slightly shorter audio into the dvd and have is synced with the video?

You have to process the audio separately, better in an audio editor (its length should be the same till the last milisecond), or in any audio-aware videoeditor (premiere & co).

While that thread has been silent for 12 years, you may use MeGUI -> Tools -> Muxer -> MP4 Muxer
