mkv splitting

I have a rather large mkv file with h264 + ac3 in it.
I want to cut a segment out of it ..
How can i do this ?

I've tried virtualdubmod (the latest one with mkv support) but it doesn't seem to be able to open the file at all. Any other tools that can do it like virtual (if it worked) ?

You can use mkvmergegui, go to the global tab and enter timecodes.

It insists on creating:

start-wanted bit-rest

But unless there is another way it works.

I think it would work with gdsmux.exe that comes with latest Haali Media Splitter:

1. double click gdsmux.exe
2. right click input area
3. add source
4. right click on video info box > preview; here you can make a selection
