bbMPEG Unable to read file

I'm using DVD2SVCD to encode an AVI file of Stargate SG1. This file is about 80MB - my goal is to put in on a SVCD.

I initially had trouble with process at the front end - before video encoding, and received this error (from MADPlay_log.txt file - just the last few lines):

-------------------------------------------------
error: frame 29437: bad big_values count
error: frame 29440: lost synchronization
error: frame 30073: lost synchronization
error: frame 30075: lost synchronization
error: frame 30077: lost synchronization
error: frame 30079: lost synchronization
Assertion failed: stream->md_len + md_len - si.main_data_begin <= MAD_BUFFER_MDLEN, file layer3.c, line 2437

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
-------------------------------------------------------

I then found a suggestion on this forum to uncheck the downsample box under the Audio tab. This got through the initial processes and through video encoding, but when bbMPEG started (assume audio/video mux part?), got a dialog box that says

Unable to read from file C:\stargate\Encoded_Audio_1.mp2

I have this file, but I see from timestamps this file was from previous attempts of SVCD creation, so when I unchecked the downsample box, I skipped an important step?

Thank you for your time.
