DTS Trailer Disk
I was wondering if anyone knew how to playback the audio that comes on a DTS theatrical disk on the PC. I know it can be played back with DTS processing hardware, because that's the way the theatre plays it back. My initial goal is to make an MP3 or WAV from these files, but the 1st step is just to get them to play. The Cd is setup like this. There is one Dir called DTS and one DTS.EXE. Inside the DTS dir there are 5 files. R3T5.AUD-R7T5.AUD. My research has brought me to a dead end. Any help would be great.

Those files are the audio files on the disk. I'm looking for a way to decode them without having to buy a DTS processor. I imagine the DTS.EXE is there to keep the audio in sync with the film reels. The R3T5.AUD is an audio file the 3 is the reel number it belongs to.

DTS cinema is a different format. We cannot use any DTS consumer decoders for that format. They are not really compatible. Actually we may use these decoders because they are designed for that format:
http://www.dtsonline.com/cinema/products.html DTS cinema is just like SDDS. Both of them are meant to be used in a real cinema. Home theaters have their own formats. We are not supposed to use consumer decoders for a cinema format. http://www.mtsu.edu/~smpte/timeline.html Read the Film Sound History if you like. The table and timeline are pretty cool. |

Yes that's right only a cinema dts decoder will be able to decode the files. Even then, does cinema hardware have standard rca-type outputs for recording the channels?
Out of curiosity, what film's dts track is on the disc? |

You would be pretty much famous in the scene if you released major (and i mean MAJOR) movies like LOTR or SW ep2 with a full 5.1 track telecined yourself, or just stolen digitally...

Decoding Cinema DTS Audio CDs
Hello,
I have read alot about this problem, but I did not find any solution. Is there any way to decode the audio files on such a cinema cd without having the decoder hardware ? The cd(s) contains many .aud files and a dts.exe that is some kind of frameserver. I read that it is only possible to play the audio directly in connection with the timecodes from the movie. It that true? Perhaps someone knows a tool to decode the .aud files (its is not that westwood file format). I also found a project called in_dtsc, that is dealing with the problem. Unfortunatly they are in very early steps. http://in-dtsc.sourceforge.net/ Y2K |
