Problems converting mutliple .vob's into a single MPEG2 ?

To convert a group of VOBS into a single MPEG2 file the software needs to analyze the .vobs for the computer to know exactly how long the files are (or else it could think the video was 2hrs long when really it was 6), that much I've figured out for myself with some trial and error. Other than Nero (which takes ages) are than any other programs that will analyze the content and keep the original settings before converting them into a single MPEG2 file?
