Create image with dvd authoring or burn VIDEO_TS

If using DVD Maestro or Scenarist, is it better to have these programs create an image file to be burned or just use the VIDEO_TS folder and burn it with Nero? I have to say that I have burnt about 10 movies using the method of dragging/dropping the contents of my VIDEO_TS folder into Nero and burning. If using the CCE/IFOEdit method, I would think this is the only way to do it. Am I wrong or am I missing something?

DVDMaestro should make an img file for you if you specify the source directory

tools->disc image creation

[I have no idea whether this is better]
