UUID Atom for iOS Devices??

Hi, I searched for encoding video for iOS devices, some articles mentioned that "UUID atom must exist containing the following hex data: 6B 68 40 F2 5F 24 4F C5 BA 39 A5 1B CF 03 23 F3....This allows you to add the video into iTunes and Apple devices. "

Sample command: ''AtomicParsley OUTPUT.mp4 --DeepScan --iPod-uuid 1200 --overWrite''

Is it really necessary to do this? I tried to use FFmpeg to encode a video for iPhone, it just work without running the above command...

I am confused..

How old is the article? It could be that it was true when it was written but is long since obsoleted.

This is only required for very old iPod 5G devices. HandBrake has an option to add this atom, but you probably do not need it.

So if I don't add this atom and transfer the video to iPod 5G by new version of iTunes, does the video playback?

If you have an iPod 5G test it out.
