unfortunately the time save in one spot, i loose more than so in creating the temp file, further more, the extra strain that is being put on my HD is just not on for me.

seems then QTGMC in just not practical in 2pass encoding, unless time is not an issue....

Question, changing subject now,

this following script on my Ivy bridge 3770k (4 core, 8 threads)
is running really slow on first pass x264 encode, the first pass is only using about 20% of cpu, now i have adjusted Setmtmodes using over 20 variants, yet is makes no difference to the FPS (and timer i have running),
my question is where would the bottleneck be?

i should note however that the 2nd pass uses 99% of cpu, and the 1st pass x264 is using turbo & when using handbrake using almost same settings, handbrake gives me about 50-65% on first pass, although not full speed, it is a huge difference over MeGUI (AVISynth) method.

Code:
# Set DAR in encoder to 12 : 5. The following line is for automatic signalling
global MeGUI_darx = 12
global MeGUI_dary = 5
SetMemoryMax(1024)
SetMTMode(5,4)
LoadPlugin("D:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\dgindexnv\DGDecodeNV.dll")
DGSource("H:\MEGUI\2\Transformers Revenge of the Fallen 2009.dgi",fieldop=0)
SetMTMode(2)
#deinterlace
crop(0, 140, 0, -140)
Spline64Resize(1280,528) # Spline64 (Sharp)
LoadPlugin("D:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\avisynth_plugin\UnDot.dll")
Undot() # Minimal Noise

any suggestions on the script as well would be appreciated,

Avisynth 2.6 MT 2012.08.28 installed and seems in working order.

That script should be pretty fast even without MT on a 3770k.

- What video card do you have?
- Run the script through AVSMeter and compare the speed with/without filters (resize, undot).

good idea, 9800gt by the way, which gives me massive performance gain when doing same script (spline64 720x480), normal avisynth decoding, 18-22fps, GPU decoding (DGI) about double..... will try normal decoding, see what happens, thanks for the tip amout AVSMeter.. try that a bit later.

done a lot more tests, and im baffled completely, i can't for the life of me work out where the bottle neck is on my system

xvid4psp gives me about 60fps using the script that MeGUI made, MeGUI gives me about 40-41fps,

now i have posted the following two scripts, the difference in performance is so low i can't help be baffled buy the results i'm getting which is a 4 fps difference?

one other thing, xvid4psp running either one of these scripts uses about 80-90% of the CPU, MeGUI running either one of the following scripts uses about 40% of CPU but does these heavy drops from time to tim to around 14%, then gradually goes back up, CPU temp is around 68c.... so it's not that, although have not tested hyper-threading as my research has shown that sandy and ivy has this tech fixed)

now the job i am doing is MKV to AVI (xvid) with a downsizing (which you will see in the script)

Code:
# Set DAR in encoder to 47 : 20. The following line is for automatic signalling
global MeGUI_darx = 47
global MeGUI_dary = 20
SetMemoryMax(1024)
#SetMTMode(5)
LoadPlugin("D:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\ffms\ffms2.dll")
FFVideoSource("G:\Die Hard 01.mkv", threads=1)
#SetMTMode(2,0)
#deinterlace
#crop
Spline64Resize(720,304) # Spline64 (Sharp)
LoadPlugin("D:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\avisynth_plugin\UnDot.dll")
Undot() # Minimal Noise
Code:
# Set DAR in encoder to 47 : 20. The following line is for automatic signalling
global MeGUI_darx = 47
global MeGUI_dary = 20
SetMemoryMax(1024)
SetMTMode(5)
LoadPlugin("D:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\ffms\ffms2.dll")
FFVideoSource("G:\Die Hard 01.mkv", threads=1)
SetMTMode(2,0)
#deinterlace
#crop
Spline64Resize(720,304) # Spline64 (Sharp)
LoadPlugin("D:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\avisynth_plugin\UnDot.dll")
Undot() # Minimal Noise

the only difference in the scripts is SetMTMode is on for one and off for the other, yet..... i would expect a lot more than 4fps between the two, especially when only 40% of CPU in being utilized,

and like i said above, executing the same script in xvid4psp uses 85-91% of the CPU (but strangely the FPS holds around 60fps, i thought it would be more, but there you go, and this is with MT mode on and off, the same)

done AVSMeter, no matter what i do with the script (apart from stupid things of course), i can't get the average speed above 63fps........ now i came to the conclusion a few hours ago that the bottleneck is Xvid, and nothing todo with the script, which would go onto explain the results i'm getting (or lack of results so to speak).....

but then xvid4psp contradicted my findings, because it was able to use SAME xvid version 1.2.2, with same settings (maxium) running same script, yet used nearly 90% of CPU....

it was here when i figured there's not really much for me to look at, my only other thought was that the avisynth itself could be at fault, but again this did not pan out, xvid4psp 5 series is using the very same avisynth version that i currently have installed here on doom9 (SEt)

now i'm a bit loss, but my current thinking is that megui is slower than xvid4psp for some reason, but i'm hoping i'm wrong on this, and i have overlooked something.

i'm still getting 40fps, so i will just have to accept that, i have posted the above for reference really, if anyone can help, then great, but 40fps is still an acceptable speed even if it should be doing double that, most films will be done in an hour..... can't complain i suppose, just baffling why the multi-threading avisynth isn't kicking in properly, and why is MeGUI so MUCH slower then xvid4psp??? (i mean by slower fps aswell as cpu utilization)

for the record though, still will be using MeGUI, i can get far more done the the GUI then i can is xvid4psp

EDIT

found the problem!!!!!!!!!
sometimes by writing things out, gives you ideas.

problem was xvid after all, xvid by default is set too 0 (auto detect cores).... wrong, i manually put it to 4 threads (which is how many real cores the 3770k has.... go figure), fps is starts at 64fps, but does gradually slip down to around 52 and holds around there give or take, so anyway after all that testing Xvid was the cause, i feel moody now, and on that note.....

Pardon my ignorance, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Is there 64bit version of MeGUI?

Please post MediaInfo of your files, or MeGUI log when it crashes. FFMS2 build comes with MeGUI should handle 10-bit H.264 in MKV very well, methinks (I'm using my own build though).

Hmm... How can he has 10-bit H.264 video while he even doesn't know how to resize it with MeGUI?

few issues that have been long standing now, never did post them here however, so will do now. (although i feel they are bugs, i can't be sure if it's only happening to me.... which i think must be the case as no one else has reported this behaviour, so posting here instead) have done reinstalls, refreshes that king of thing)

1. oneclick now add an extra step in the process, PGCDEMUX, however it does this even when it appears it's not needed, take for example i RIP a DVD to g drive using DVDShrink in conjunction with ANYDVD, i only rip the main title with the one audio track with no subtitles, however oneclick pgcdemux seems to recreate the VOB files on the very same hard drive the ripped VOB files are located (not only is this a waste as i have already done this with DVDShrink but it also has a huge I/O impact as it's reading and writing from/to same hard drive, the old method did not do this, only two tasks were added (pgcdemux seems knew), i tried deleting the pgcdemux task but megui did not like that.

2. noticed it quite a while ago, sometimes Lame encoder gets stuck, i have managed to reproduce it, and found a way to stop it from happening, although the following sounds weird, it is true for me.

2a AC3/DTS to mp3 - Nicaudio sometimes produces spikes in the final output of the MP3 track (downmixing to stereo - keep source channels - DRC on - normalize 100) however if i use FFaudiosource, the mp3 output is fine, tried several times, nicaudio produces clipping spikes when FFAudio does not, it's reproducable on certain tracks, but does not happen on all tracks of course.

2b if i open the config page for audio - select source (nicaudio/FFaudio) that page, then turn on DRC, then close and agree when it asks to update profile, then try and do a audio encode, megui processes the first part, then opens up lame.exe, but lame gets stuck..... nothing happens, but here's the puzzler, if i go back into the audio config page, turn off audio normalization option but DRC is still left on, close and save to profile, now encode the same track again, it works, lame kicks in and does it's job, and this behaviour is reproducible for me, turn on normalization again, and megui - lame.exe open but just sits there and does nothing, one thing to note here however, if i turn of normalization option yet DRC is still on, if i close the config screen and open it back up, normalization is actually turned back on even though i turned it off!
this is the same with nic and FF alike. (svn2174)

nicaudio is running about half the speed that FFaudio does, is this normal?

nicaudio around 13.36 realtime AC3 to mp3
FFaudio around 29.80 realtime AC3 to mp3

i know some of the above is contradicting in a way, but i can't really explain any better, i have rewritten the above out a few times and tried to clean it up as best as possible, not that it has helped much i know.

2a) You should "normalize" to less than 100%. Sometimes the psychoacoustic removal of frequency components leads to the clipping during the encoding, because even the removed frequencies might have been limiting the volume with a negative factor.

2b) Normalization needs to gather statistics. It has to scan the whole audio once before it knows the loudest volume and can calculate the factor required to push this loudest sample to the desired target volume. Are you sure you waited long enough if it would continue eventually?

i monitor the proceeses, lame.exe is loaded but has 0% cpu utilization, but yes i have waited a longtime, when it first started to happen, like most would i wait for 10, then 20, longest 30minutes..... but with 0% cpu, lame is doing nothing added to the fact no HDD activity

tried the normalize less, 97% then 90%..... but like i said, when nicaudio was used which caused clipping, FFaudio would not..... i just use that all the time now FFaudio that is, so that problem was easy to get around, the other issue however.... is normalization actually on even when i turn it off after going back into the audio config screen, or is it just a false flag showing it's on but really it's not?

like i said above, turn on DRC and normalization, close with save to profile
now open config again, turn off normalization save and close
go back into audio config, and normalization has switched itself back on yet audio encoding still works fine for me..... however if i turn off normalization, then turn it back on (so click it twice), my encode won't work, lame hangs...... strange!!!!

Which is the best audio preset 128bit or 192bit, also i got a basic idea of like

1 create a d2v file and load it using avisynth script creator .

after that only i dont know like scripting cropping , what about the audio delay ? encode both audio and video together ,what about bitrate calculator how to find out the correct bit rate depends if i need 700MB or 1.45GB ?

How can i get rid of audio delay if it is too large usually u get audio stream saperate when u create d2vfile .

how can i get audio in sync with video and how to adjust that ?

some one please help me as i am a baby in ripping and dont know anything about it please help me learn ripping using megui software.

Usually it happens only when i use Pre-rendering job, infact now i'm encoding without it and it works. However it takes a lot of extra time (more than 6 hours); so i can't encode :/
I've resolved by myself reinstalling Avisynth MT. I downloaded the last version from here: http://code.google.com/p/avisynth-mt...n=2&q=AviSynth
Of course you've to unistall the previous version

This morning, infact, MeGui Update had an update about avisynth but, incredbly, it said that there was no avisynth installed O_o
So I've reinstalled it

Now MeGui works as good as before this problem

Please, can you upload a sample with the problem?

Cut the first 50 MB of the first file with DGSplit, upload it to mediafire.com, then post the link here.

Also post your full script.

Uh, your script has this:

DelayAudio(86519.0/1000.0)

That's an 86 second delay you are imposing! You need to change that.

If DGIndex reported a huge delay also, then you do need to provide the file. You may have the dreaded 'black video at the start with no audio' problem too.

Looking at your log I see the demuxed file has the big delay. I need the file I asked for. The first 50 MB of the first file that you loaded into DGIndex.

You can also try reloading the files in DGIndex, then doing > to skip all black video at the start, and then hit [, finally save your project.

If MEGUI did it with one click or something, then you have to do it manually.

Do you see black video at the start? I don't like to play 20 questions so please try to respond to all the information and suggestions you are given. Thank you.

This task will be added if the selected DVD/VOB has more than one PGC. If you have more than one HDD you should specify the working directory to be on a different drive than input and ouput.
EDIT: Please post the log so that we can see if the input has more than one PGC.
