DirectShow apps can also use VFW and ACM codecs. Windows contains wrapper filters for that. But LAV Filters is something I would recommend as well if you only need playback.
The Movies&TV app from Win10 uses Media Foundation codecs, which means it only supports the native formats, as there are practically no third party codecs of that type. |
