New Build:
http://t.inmatrix.com/zplayer800prefinal19.rar

jmonier:
This new build fixes your issue.

Change list from RC3:
Code:
  * New "TSFileSource" MPEG2 Transport Stream Smart Play profile.
Please note that the "TSFileSource" filter is not compatible with Zoom Player's
default MPEG2 Transport splitter. To ensure compatibility, switch the
MPEG2 Transport splitter to the microsoft profile.

  * New navigation skin scripts variables "CursorActive" and "CursorInactive"
used to specify the brightness adjustment value for the fullscreen
    virtual keyboard navigator cursor.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Interface / Fullscreen Navigation / Settings)
controlling whether the line background for empty text lines is drawn.
This setting is enabled by default. If you would like to return to the
previous look, you can uncheck this setting.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / Video) allowing you to enable
MadVR's seek-bar. By default the MadVR seekbar is disabled as its
functionality duplicates Zoom Player's Control Bar.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / History) allowing you to
auto-save the play history after playing each media file.

  * The Fullscreen Playlist navigation interface now draws the media duration
    when available.

+ MadVR support for non-fullscreen images while in fullscreen exclusive mode
    (zoom in/out, panning, etc).

+ MadVR mouse-wheel scroll/tilt now works on the control bar.

+ The options search dialog now highlights the selected components, big thanks
to Mitko for the enhanced code.

+ Redesigned the Smart Play configuration dialog for greater clarity.

+ The Smart Play configuration dialogs now prompt you to update a modified
profile when clicking on a different profile in the list or clicking the
OK button to close the configuration dialog.

+ The guard-dog function now forces Zoom Player to close if it detects a
    freeze during shutdown.

+ The "Adv. Options / Interface / Playlist - Use Media Title if available"
setting will now display the media title (if available) in the fullscreen
    playlist navigation interface.

+ The "Start Player in" setting has moved from "Adv. Options / Interface" to
"Adv. Options / Interface / Position & Size".

+ The options dialog search window now remembers it's previous height value.

  - The Windows 7 task list wasn't cleared if no items were selected.

  - The Install Center now identifies 3rd party 64bit installations (e.g. 7-zip).
    Thanks Gleb Egorych, Midiboy.

  - When using MadVR fullscreen exclusive mode in combination with auto-changing
monitor resolution on fullscreen, exiting fullscreen did not restore the
    original monitor's resolution. Thanks Hawke.

  - The "CUE" chapter parsing code has been rewritten.
It now parses unicode/ascii charsets correctly and loads meta-data
    information (Perfomer/Genre/etc). Thanks Orf.

  - Unchecking the "Enable TAG display" setting would hide the entire display,
including the background image rather than just the TAG display.

  - Unchecking "Save last play time and date" from "Adv. Options /
Playback / History" would cause Zoom Player to forget any new items
played the next time Zoom Player was restarted.

  - Choosing to hide the Zoom Player task bar icon would fail (the icon would
    reappear) under certain circumstances.

  - The GuardDog feature no longer restart Zoom Player if the internal screen
    saver is active.

  - Fixed a complete freeze when playing audio files containing corrupt
    ID3 tags.

  - The control bar and time display should now appear in the correct position
when moving the video area or zooming with MadVR.

  - JPEG scanline image fixed! Thanks Spuncut/OV2.

  - Folder image base names did not recognize the use of paths. Thanks Orf.

  - The Smart Play configuration dialogs now selects the first profile from the
list when erasing a profile so the previously erased profile's filters do
    not remain active.

  - Changing the navigation keyboard layout could cause a crash when closing
the skin selection dialog through the keyboard. Thanks Gleb Egorych.

I understand, but doesn't madVR close at the end of the file playback? I guess that actually closing the file upon Stop closes madVR but there doesn't appear to be a way to close the file when playback stops due to reaching the end of file. Are you saying that madVR remains open in this case?

If you can provide an option to close the file when playback stops (and the "1000 1" event occurs) upon end of file being reached (or make the existing option do this as well) that would probably do the job for me. I really don't want to lose functionality that I've had for many years.

P.S. prefinal19 does fix the other bug. Thanks.

Sorry, but that doesn't do it. The response is still "1000 1" which is 'Stop' rather than 'Close'. The 1200 Command does not work.

EDIT: OK, I found the trick. 'Auto-Play next file' has to be checked as well.

Everything seems to work for me now.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Does the player have the option to auto switch frame rate for 24Hz video material and switch back to 60Hz for 60Hz material?

That's an advanced functionality, and madVR (the renderer) does the job nicely and will be improved in some months.
So IMO, that's not needed for ZP.

But maybe Blight has different opinion/plan.

Like pirlouy mentioned, Zoom Player is flexible and can work with MadVR to achieve this.
I believe that Reclock can do something similar as well.

Oooooo.

Does that only work with the formats Windows is able to identify the length from on the desktop (AVI, WMV), or would it work with ones in container formats like MKV and MP4, too?

I have HTPC with ATI 5450. I tried MadVR and it looks bad with H.264 interlace 29.970 material coming from home HD video camera. I get best results with MPC-HC -> LAV video -> custom EVR. MPC-HC has a build in full screen auto refrash rate change. I don't want to use reclock since it may effect the audio bitstreaming.

You can try Autofrequency: http://www.homecinema-hd.com/downloads.html
But for me, that's logical it's the renderer which chooses frequency...

Reclock can do it without cuting bitstream, but settings are more complicated.

Anyway, ZP 8 has no plans for this feature.

With all the respect MPC-HC as a build in auto frame rate feature. What is the advantage using ZP8 that worth this fuss?

Hi, I am looking to buy Zoomplayer and so I am looking for some functionality like potplayer & mpc-hc.
How can you have done a so much no user friendly software ???
I want to
a) configured keyboard shortcut (for remote use) like X -> quit, S -> change subtitle, A -> change Audio, etc.
b) Add ffdshow audio & video post processor

For a) I have to edit some code text files, with 70 lines of explanation in english -> not already understand what I have to do
For b) I guess I have to change merit of these directshow filter

Oooh guys, Please, think easy
With free software, I can do these kind of stuff, without computer engineering degree (although I am)

tschi actually you can do what you want but i agree zoomplayers complexity raised a lot since its early days (it could need a redesign option wise) though if you master Potplayer which has similar complexity you should be able to master Zoomplayer and understand how it works also
Though don't forget it evolved in a complete MediaCenter (with even some editing functionality) so these options are all needed but categorizing them more efficient and maybe visually wouldn't be a bad idea for average joes as well

Ctr+B (change sub) does'nt work (vobsub + ffdshow, lavfsplitter), http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...111022193.png/

I have access violation when I switcth audio ctrl+A (last lavfspliter, madvr, no smartfilter)
http://imageshack.us/f/690/capturedcran20111022204.png/

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/683/capturedcran20111022204.png/

@cruncher : option are not the problem, keyshortcut are really a pain in the ass !
http://pastebin.com/AzibS5nJ
and no way to had external filter except manage all by m$ Merit

it seems with smart filters I don't have audio crash when switching, but I would be not able to add postprocesing
with smart my filter ares source file >lav splitter -> ffdshow filter -> lav audio decoder, madvr reclock
it crashs when switching ac3 <> dts and it's not really crash, the audio and video are play fine, just a error window

You run a remote with Event Ghost or Intelliremote - they link directly in to Zoomplayer.

Zoomplayer smart play does not use Merits. Merits are for toy software. You explicitly set what filter you want for each audio type.

For instance, I use LAVAudio->ffdshow audio->Convolver wrapper->Reclock, for most audio types. I could not set this filter chain in MPC-HC, using it's merits system. In ZP it's easy.

Thanks Mark, I will check for filter settings, I didn't understand I was able to add more than one filter by codec.
Anyway, I use potplayer & mpchc in same time, so I would like to have the same shortcut keys for all. Installing new other softwares is not a solution. Key management is quite hard to understand. I just want to set :
X-> quit
Space -> play / pause (already done by menu)
A-> change Audio
S -> change subtile
Rethink the shortcut key management would be a great enhancement

That is a known issue (bug 75 I believe). If you change to ffdshow's subtitle renderer it will work then, just not with VOBSub. It used to work fine.

I am eagerly awaiting bug 75's resolution myself.

And I will tell you I use Zoom Player with a remote and don't have any issues with the keyboard shortcuts as they are set up, except the keys for DVD chapters and the keys for Media file chapters are different, but I can overcome that by changing those key settings for Zoom Player when it is in "DVD mode".

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late reply, it's been the holiday season over in my part of the world and I've had other contractual obligations to attend.
But I'm back and I'll address all questions as best I can.

nx6:
It will work with any format ZP has support for duration extraction, which currently is (by extension):
AVI;CDA;FLAC;M2TS;MKA;MKV;MOV;MP3;MP4;MPA;MPLS;OGG;WMA
Other formats 'may' work as some DirectShow hueristics are at work here, but the above are gurentueed as long as you're using the Install Center components (other components may work, but have not been tested).

Regarding the stream switching code, there are several issues with it that I plan to address post v8 with a complete rewrite, but I do believe that if anything, VobSub is working with Ctrl+B and most of the issues
are actaully with FFDShow as the sub renderer, so if you can send me a file and an exact graph setup that crashes with VobSub as the sub renderer, I might be able provide a quick fix.

tschi:
You don't need to edit a text for to create custom key mapping for Zoom Player, there's a built in editor.
In fact, I took the time and created a video tutorial showing you how it's done:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjEXDbqaKWI
As for adding post-processing filters, it's quite easy and you can do it by format, simply by adding a filter after the decoder in the Smart Play configuration profile.
It's also touched a bit in this video tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob4GS2H4M9I

If there are specific features that don't work in this setup, you can provide us with sample clips and we can try enhancing the code.

CruNcher:
I don't agree with you, sure there's more things to tweak, but a lot of things are done automatically now compared to previous versions.
I constantly try to simplify the interface. A lot of redesign has been done in v8, practially every interface was tweaked in one way or another.
And the new options search dialog makes it much easier to locate a feature even if you don't remember the name exactly.
