PAL to NTSC GUIDE

I have read a few threads in this forum about PAL to NTSC conversion and frankly its a little hard to get some context.

Does anyone know of a good guide for PAL to NTSC DVD conversion, i just want to take a PAL DVD9 and burn it to an NTSC DVD5.

Other threads talk about techniques and such but they are all dependent on a lot of programs i have never used, and have no idea what they do.

I just need a guide to give me an overview of the process.

thanks

okay here goes

be advised this is movie only.. you cannot keep menus with this method

1. demux main titleset to m2v and ac3 audio
2. use the bitrate calculator on videohelp.com to determine the max bitrate and average bitrate based on the length of the movie and the bitrate of the audio
3. write an avs script using djrumpy's svcd to dvd conversion guide on videohelp.com to write a avs script (http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/171216.php)
3a. you will make a d2v file in the process
4. sample script
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\DVD-RB\DGDecode.dll")
mpeg2source("F:\pal.D2V")
LanczosResize(720,360)
AddBorders(0,60,0,60)
ConvertToYUY2()
AudioDub(BlankClip())
5. load avs file into cce and reencode using settings in guide and calculated bitrates
6. apply dgpulldown to reencoded m2v file to flag 25fps file to 29.97fps
7. remux ac3 and flagged m2v with muxman or dvdlab pro

Ifoedit patch method. I've never tried this method but if users are reporting that it works then it wouldn't hurt posting this here.

I'm moving this to DVD Authoring since DVD-RB cannot be used for this purpose.
