Mr_Odwin I apoligize for taking so much of Your time with yet another error brought about by Myself, but You see because I've used the same tools & steps to make so many other compilations "without issue" I didn't think it could have been anything I had done. However once You said that Favc was reporting a file as one size & I knew I'd cut it down, thats when it rung a bell. So I'll start from scratch but this time I'll run Favc without cutting the avi's.

SolveigMM Video Splitter and Favc
Well of course needless to say it worked! http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...O_TSRedone.jpg
Yep all 3 avi files untouched in any way were processed by Favc without a problem. But I do find it kinda bothersome that after so many compilations in wich I've used exactly the same steps & tools failed to produce this issue even once in the past, but then again I guess this could be considered "that once" huh? None the less I owe You Thanx Mr.Odwin for helping Me thru Yet another issue brought about by Myself! ~Good Day~ Last edited by Xproject187; 9th January 2008 at 18:39. |

strange divx5 behavior
I don't think this is a flaw in FAVC but in case anyone runs into it, I thought I'd mention something I experienced. I had some divx5 .avi files to convert to dvd. 3 files with the only difference being that one had .mp3 audio instead of ac3. The one with the .mp3 audio wanted to process at around 12 fps per instance of QuEnc on my dual core machine when the normal speed is about 50+ per QuEnc instance.
I tried using HC instead, same slow performance. Just for chuckles I uninstalled the divx codec on my Vista machine, and bingo!! 50+ fps per QuEnc instance like usual. Strange!!! The same thing happened when I backed down to FAVC 1.04 so something was weird with the divx codec that didn't like .mp3 audio being there! The other weird thing was that DVD Flick worked normally. Maybe flick uses its own decoding or something. Just FYI if anyone runs into slow processing on divx5 sources.

What changes have been made to this new version Favc?
in the future will there be any chance of beening able to play around with the menu creation a bit more like change the font size or the colour of the font when you place your own background picture in? |

Hi! thanks for the new version.
I have a question about DGPulldown in FAVC. When converting a long file to dvd FAVC spends a lot of time on that step, there's a option not to run it. In which circumstances should i not enable it? from what i read on this page: http://neuron2.net/dgpulldown/dgpulldown.html when converting from pal to pal it isnt needed, should i disable it? so far i never had any playback problems with leaving it enabled. Most of my encodes are from pal to pal. Thanks |

Can someone remind me what the different HC modes do - so the difference between constant quant and predictive in terms of function, quality and speed? If I use constant, what kind of value do I need to use?

Thanks Mr Odwin
1. What kind of quant value should I be using? Whats the difference between say 1 and 4? 2. You say in 1.06 that you improved HC Predictive Quantization Algorithm - does this mean sizing is now more accurate? |

Mr Odwin,
I am trying to use for the first time this software, but every moment I try to make a conversion, this errors happens: Generally this problem occurs when the correct version of Avisynth (v.256a or greater)... I have downloaded and installed this version of Avysinth. I saw that 'magicclue' had the same problem, and you said it might be beacuse of foreing language caracthers, bbut it's not the case here. I tried 5 videos, and all of them had the same problem. I am from Brazil, and my windows is Brazilian, but there are no foreign caracthers at the files. Thanks in advance. |
