Help with M2TS and ffdshow?
I've got a set of files ripped from blu-ray and processed using tsmuxer for PS3 playback. For some reason, on one file of the SEVEN m2ts files in the STREAM folder, 6 of them will not playback with MPC with the error "cannot render the file", but one of the seven can. Here are the two mediainfo outputs for the files:
FILE that will NOT play: General ID : 1 Complete name : f:\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM\00000.MTS Format : BDAV Format/Info : BluRay Video File size : 3.91 GiB Duration : 22mn 1s Overall bit rate : 25.4 Mbps Maximum Overall bit rate : 35.5 Mbps Video ID : 4113 (0x1011) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : VC-1 Format profile : AP@L3 Duration : 22mn 1s Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16/9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Language : English Audio ID : 4352 (0x1100) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : PCM Format settings, Endianness : Big Format settings, Sign : Signed Duration : 22mn 1s Bit rate mode : Constant Channel(s) : 8 channels Channel positions : Front: L R C, Middle: L R, Rear: L R, LFE Video delay : -140ms Text #1 ID : 4608 (0x1200) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : PGS Text #2 ID : 4609 (0x1201) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : PGS File that WILL play: General ID : 1 Complete name : f:\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM\00006.MTS Format : BDAV Format/Info : BluRay Video File size : 1.46 GiB Duration : 13mn 4s Overall bit rate : 16.0 Mbps Maximum Overall bit rate : 35.5 Mbps Video ID : 4113 (0x1011) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : VC-1 Format profile : AP@L3 Duration : 13mn 4s Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16/9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Language : English Audio ID : 4352 (0x1100) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : PCM Format settings, Endianness : Big Format settings, Sign : Signed Duration : 13mn 4s Bit rate mode : Constant Channel(s) : 8 channels Channel positions : Front: L R C, Middle: L R, Rear: L R, LFE Video delay : -123ms Text #1 ID : 4608 (0x1200) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : PGS Duration : 12mn 58s Video delay : 4s 42ms Text #2 ID : 4609 (0x1201) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : PGS Duration : 12mn 58s Video delay : 4s 0ms Here's the directory of the STREAM folder: 00000 thru 00005 won't play....but 00006 will Volume in drive F is SCRATCH500 Volume Serial Number is DC71-ED27 Directory of f:\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM 06/23/2010 09:54 PM <DIR> . 06/23/2010 09:54 PM <DIR> .. 06/23/2010 09:40 PM 4,193,753,088 00000.MTS 06/23/2010 09:42 PM 4,194,091,008 00001.MTS 06/23/2010 09:45 PM 4,193,482,752 00002.MTS 06/23/2010 09:47 PM 4,192,714,752 00003.MTS 06/23/2010 09:50 PM 4,193,458,176 00004.MTS 06/23/2010 09:52 PM 4,193,280,000 00005.MTS 06/23/2010 09:53 PM 1,566,984,192 00006.MTS 06/23/2010 09:54 PM 1,142,784 83001.MTS 06/23/2010 09:54 PM 73,728 93001.MTS 9 File(s) 26,728,980,480 bytes 2 Dir(s) 66,351,239,168 bytes free The files WILL playback on PS3 (and VLC), but not MPC and so I can't run any avisynth scripts because the system can't render, but I can't figure out why and how the playable ones are different than the unplayable ....Can someone please help me figure out how to troubleshoot either what my system needs to render the file, or how to reprocess the files through tsmuxer so that they'll play? |

I'm hoping to find some tools to help troubleshoot WHAT my system needs to playback the m2ts file(s) in question. It seems very strange that the output from a blu-ray rip (which was only processed with tsmuxer) would NOT be playable on a fresh win 7 ultimate system with both Haali and ffdshow installed. The fact that I can play SOME of the m2ts files just really has me bothered as if I'm almost there. I tried using the graph program and gspot, but neither seems to be able to tell me much, they just can't do anything with the m2ts segments that won't play, so my troubleshooting options have ended (experts?). |

I have used MeGui to remux to MKV, but there are others as well... MakeMKV, mkvmerge, etc...
If you are just trying to play these files back on a PC, you can use PowerDVD or TMT3 and just open the .m2ts files with open media file mode. |
