AVISynth competition?

I've noticed that there have been several attempts at making an AVISynth based editor that has a GUI. But it seems that the projects stagnate before they're fully mature. This is a bit disheartening to me because I think that an AVISynth based editor with a GUI would be a great piece of software.

Well, I have an idea. Why not take the idea of an AVISynth based editor and turn it into a competition? Developers can enter the contest to try to make the best editor. The final products can be judged and the winner receives a monetary prize.

I think I have an idea on how this can be made to work, but I would like the opinions of other people first.
