DGIndex pulldown detection issue

First, thanks to the contributors to this forum -- a huge source of valuable information for me.

I am posting this after spending some time researching this and other forums. I am sure there is an obvious setting I am missing somewhere, but I can't find it -- I am still a newbie trying to understand the technology.

I am trying to use DGIndex Parse D2V tool to detect the frames with the pulldown pattern.
The clip I am using (from a movie captured from NTSC cable) is using that pattern, which I can see very clearly when stepping through it with VirtualDub. But DGIndex fails to show the * indicating 3:2 pattern.
More details:
  • I am using DGIndex 1.5.0
  • I used DGIndex to generate a d2v file from my mpeg2 capture.
My script (to observe the pattern) has one line:
Code:
MPEG2Source("D:\clip.d2v")
The parse output looks like this:
Code:
D2V Parse Output

Encoded Frame: Display Frames....Flags Byte (* means in 3:2 pattern)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

[Field Operation None, using flags]
[GOP: closed]
[Clip is TFF]
0 [I]: 0,0......................2
1 [B]: 1,1......................2
2 [B]: 2,2......................2
3 [P]: 3,3......................2
4 [B]: 4,4......................2
5 [B]: 5,5......................2
6 [P]: 6,6......................2
7 [B]: 7,7......................2
8 [B]: 8,8......................2
9 [P]: 9,9......................2
10 [B]: 10,10...................2
11 [B]: 11,11...................2
12 [P]: 12,12...................2
[GOP: open]
13 [B]: 13,13...................2
14 [B]: 14,14...................2
15 [I]: 15,15...................2
16 [B]: 16,16...................2
17 [B]: 17,17...................2
18 [P]: 18,18...................2
19 [B]: 19,19...................2
20 [B]: 20,20...................2
21 [P]: 21,21...................2
22 [B]: 22,22...................2
23 [B]: 23,23...................2
24 [P]: 24,24...................2
25 [B]: 25,25...................2
26 [B]: 26,26...................2
27 [P]: 27,27...................2
[GOP: open]
etc...
I don't have a problem with that clip which has a very consistent 3:2 pattern, but I want to make this work to help IVTC other material with somwhat irregular patterns, and the DGIndex parsing tool would then be very useful.

The Parse D2V tool can work only with soft pulldown (TFF/RFF flags in the MPEG2 stream). You have hard pulldown, i.e., the fields are not flagged but physically duplicated.
