That's similar to DVD I assume: Progressive frames encoded/flagged as interlaced.
I would assume that such sources can be encoded as progressive by x264 using '--fake-interlaced'. I do this for DVD backups for example, and they play without issues on my SONY S360.
Encoding as interlaced with '--tff' (MBAFF) should also work, but in this case '--weightp' is not supported if I remember correctly.
It's more difficult when downscaling to 720. Blu-ray accepts progressive 23.976, 24.000, 50.000, 59.940 only, but not 25. So either one can apply frame duplication for 25fps progressive material, or apply '--pulldown double' which would be more efficient. I tried the latter without success. It seems that tsmuxer has a problem with it (frame playback sequence). Maybe someone else has a different experience. It's however going beyond the scope of this thread.

BD Rebuilder v0.37.03 (beta)

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to a new release of BD-RB (v0.37.03). Changes for this release:
Code:
- Corrected an error in which pulldown could be
incorrectly applied to a hybrid source.
- Fixed an error in which BFF (bottom field first)
MPEG-2 sources may not be correctly identified.
- Corrected an error in which 24fps sources that
were rebuilt for movie-only were not using the
correct muxing rate and as a result did not
  have audio synchronization.
- Fixed a bug in which setting DEINTERLACE and
IVTC concurrently would cause an incorrect AVS
to be generated on a source with pulldown. As a
result, a nonsensical framerate and audio sync
  problems would occur.
- Corrected the ALTERNATE/DVD output so it will
  properly handle 24fps sources.
- Changed actions in combinations of resizing SD
to 1080p in combination with IVTC.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
  latest release (r1867).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
  the latest release (r1867).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

If you select the "Deinterlace" option in the SETUP dialog the "--fake-interlaced" flag will be used for both 29.97fps and 25fps sources.

If you go back to first post. This is First point on thread.

Quote:
1. Download and install FFDSHOW and the Haali Matroska Splitter. They are required for BD-RB to work and are free. After the install, run "Video Decoder Configuration" for FFDSHOW from the "START/Programs" menu, and make sure MPEG2 decoding is enabled. Do the same using "Audio Decoder Configuration" to ensure "Uncompressed" is set to "All Supported".
In that very post you will find two program you need. I have highlighted them here.

I've just tried the latest build with New Moon, and the audio is still out of sync. I haven't tried Benjamin Button again yet, but assume the problem will still be there for that disc too.

Tried it how? I'm not a mind reader... movie-only, full backup, Alternate output, DVD?

If you want things to get fixed you have to take the extra 30 seconds needed to describe your issue. You also can't expect me to start digging back through the pages to see what happened last time you posted. I went through all 7 of your previous posts and you have yet to have posted a single LOG, INF, or INI file. To me that's as much as saying "Ignore my post".

C'mon, throw me a bone here.

What are you using to play it back? Sometimes software players can cause desync. It's been a long, long time since a standard backup of an AVC HD source in movie-only has had sync problems. Can you also run INSPECT.EXE and post the results?

I'll pick up a copy of NEW_MOON and give it a test run.

I originally noticed the sync while watching a burned copy of the rebuilt BD5, played back on my PS3. Since I noticed it, I have been using VLC after the rebuild to play the m2ts file that BD-RB outputs so that I can check the audio before burning to disc.

Since first noticing the sync problem I've done about 4-5 rebuilds of other discs using exactly the same settings (I assume - I never touch any of them) which have worked without any sync problems. "New Moon" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" are the only discs I've experienced it with so far.

@jdobbs;
I can confirm on my end that BD-RBV03703 corrects the IVTC/DECOMB problem on mpeg2 files that could make the audio go out of sync.
I see the avs created reflects (Telecide(order=1) Decimate() ).
Suprising to me is that the visual quality is improved noticeably on what is a pretty low quality original, and is better than just keeping it interlaced or using Decomb to deinterlace it. ( pending the original source! )
So congrats and thank you for such a quick find and fix.

Just as a note, I'm including SmoothDeinterlacer() as an option for deinterlacing in the next release. I've found that on some sources it can make a considerable difference. I've also added a deinterlacing option that leaves the source alone -- but adds "fake-interlaced" to the command line for sources that are actually progressive but are marked as interlaced to meet the standard.
