SubPaster 1.1 released - helper tool for translations
... back again ... first of all:
Hi there! Due to the fact, that automatic translators are very confused by "feeding" them directly with a subtitle file, I decided to write a small helper tool called SubPaster. This tool extracts the embedded text lines, makes them available for modifying, translating or whatever and pushes them back into the subtitle format. Is free for you for private use! A more detailed description could be found here: http://members.aon.at/marsoupilami/SubPaster.htm ... it's written under ubuntu/qt and transferred to WinXP, the newest Win I have. If you'll face some troubles - please don't beat me Have fun and kind regards!

Nice tool, thank you for this it will help a lot.
May i suggest for a next version the possibility to have Chunksize of 3000 characters possible as options too please ? Often DeepL translator (that does a excellent job at translation) is overloaded, feeding the max allowed 5000 characters to it fails, but loading 3000 characters or less seems to works nicely when it happens. Only tested it once for now but will test it a bit more in the next weeks and report back if i find some issues. Thanks a lot for this tool. |

Hi!
I'm just working on a new release 1.1 - it will offer: * Both timestamps and punctuation are considered for phrase extraction * Some buttons are enabled/disabled according to current state of working * Configurable chunksize * Some minor bugfixes EDIT: It's on my page now. ... besides: does it make sense to release a binary created in ubuntu 12.4 / 32 bit? Kind regards!

Just gave a quick try to the latest version,
Thank you very much for adding the possibility to set a custom number for the characters, it's perfect like this once the desired number saved as preset. Made a quick try with DeepL translator and the results are quite nice plus it is fast to proceed, it's a tool that will definitively serve me each time i will need quick translations done. A big thank you for this fantastic tool, not using linux myself so i can't answer but this tool is certainly a must have. PS : Maybe something to exclude, as a selectable option, will be the part made in subs for deficient hearing persons, things like: [narrator] [woman] [screaming] [sad music playing] etc... For quick translations you often don't need all this, i use a regex in notepad++ to find and highlight those parts between [] characters when i need it, could do a macro to find and remove them all too in n++, not a big deal, i don't do much quick subs translations anyways, only when i really need it quickly for myself and don't want to be spoiled all around , but maybe if it's not too much hassle it could be an option to add in the future , well if it makes sense for you too. Thanks again. Last edited by Yanak; 10th January 2018 at 18:11. |

@Yanak
Yes you are right - it's also only a regexp in qt. I implemented a "strip hearing impaired" along with some other goodies like "frame rate conversion", "rubberbanding" to other subtitle file etc. in my crazy SubSplicer. But I'll keep it in mind for the future. Kind regards!
