3D in MKV etc
With BluRay releases like Monsters vs Aliens already out in 3D (Not the old 3D the new 3DTV standard) how will this translate to reencodes in x264 in an MKV container or other computer friendly formats?
How would you view such content using shutter glasses for instance? |

The Monsters vs. Aliens disk has *.ssif files in the ssif folder (a subfolder of the stream folder). Does anybody know the format of these files? Maybe they cannot be played back because AnyDVD HD doesn't decrypt them yet? I've also noticed that the total size of the disk is 77 GB, more than a Blu-ray disk can hold.

I have read a couple of reviews by down to earth people that really love the 3d features. The cinema's here almost exlcusively show 3d movies now and judging from the public's response they want to have 3d at home too. Locally 3d-tv broadcast's are starting around june.

I agree that would be better.
But everyone is used to needing a new bluray player every 1-2 years already.

Bluray adoption stays slow and the updates have only slowed it more. Add the bad economy and it seems plain stupid.
