Still menu in Scenarist

Hi all,

Since now I have been creating a video stream which was playing as a background behind the menu pages.
Now, I want to have a still image instead.
How am I doing it? Do I have to encode my tiff image with the Still Image Encoder, set it as Movie and set a desirable duration and then add it as usual in the Scenarist or there is another way?

Thanks!

Personally i use the still image encoder which make a valid bd file. Notheless, you can use any other tool which make valid output (premiere, vegas, etc...)

Still encoder is very basic.

1: you choose your png file (made on photoshop or other...)
2: you put the time (hour min second etc...)
3: you select the encoder (avc, mpg etc...)
4: select destination click and that's all

Ok, so there correct way is to transcode the still image to movie.
There is no way to insert a still image as background.

Thanks!

You can encode the still as a Browsable Slide Show Asset and then in authoring set it to be infinitely held duration.

Thanks a lot. Can you please tell me where I set it to infinitely?

Thanks.

Drag your still image into the Still Image Encoder.
Select 'Browsable Slidershow(Multi ES)', and choose your other settings
Click 'Start Encoding'
Drag the .ves file into Scenarist.
Make a Clip of it
Make a PlayList of the clip.
By default, it should be set to a 'Still for Infinite Duration', so it should be ready to go as your menu background

If you want to verify, click the little + next to the PlayList you just created, and select the PlayItem that appears underneath it, in the properties window you should see 'Still Mode' with several options, one being Infinite Duration.

But browsable slideshow doesn't allows you to have audio muxed, until you add a path with audio for browsable slideshow (which is out of mux). If you want both audio AND IG I think there should be some problems (both Audio and IG coming from different out-of-mux path enabled at same time).
Isn't it better in that case to use timebased slideshow (with infinite duration) with muxed audio and out-of-mux IGs?

As far as I'm aware there's no issue using a Out-of-Mux Audio and an Out-of-Mux IG?

The IG is loaded into the buffer at the start of the track - hence it has to fit within the IG buffer, but the audio is handled by the secondary decoder like PIP.

That is correct. You can have an out-of-mux audio stream and IG with no problem.

I've done this with still galleries several times- still galleries encoded as I described above controlled by navigating arrows and other options in an IG, and music playing in the background the whole time.

Wait can you explain something ? Is it possible to go like this :

Slide-show 2m56sec which is in fact 1 png + an info about time length + an audio file ? Conclusion : the result is a very little file with a 2m56 'video' + the audio ?

It's timebased slideshow or you can do something similar with browsable slideshow and the latest version of Scenarist (which allows to use different audio on each browsable slideshow)

Correct me if i am wrong but on this way you can make audio blueray with a lot of song ?

You have virtually a zero byte 'video' + your audio file in not compressed format ?
