fixing transparent subtitle in mkv file without re-encoding

hi

i have encoded a hong kong movie (x264 mkv via automkv), but unfortunately the subtitle is transparent. without re-encoding is it possible to fix it? i tried changing settings in the DirectVobSub filters but it didnt help.
