Bluray to UltraUHD
Hi
After replacing the AVC video of one Bluray with the HEVC of the same movie in UHD; everything works fine but the HDR10 is not working. If I play m2ts file HDR works perfectly Am I doing something wrong or is not possible to do what I'm trying? Regards |

While I don't have the answer to your question, your post is lacking key details. What device or software are you using to play this back? And what exactly are you making where you're combining the blu-ray with the HEVC? A MKV?
What m2ts file are you playing that works perfectly? The one from the original UHD BD? |

Let me extend the explanation
bluray Source: Code:

Disc Title: XXXXXX Disc Size: 92,728,471,535 bytes Protection: AACS Playlist: 00000.MPLS Size: 91,006,181,376 bytes Length: 2:11:46.833 Total Bitrate: 92.08 Mbps Video: MPEG-H HEVC Video / 78820 kbps / 2160p / 24 fps / 16:9 / Main 10 @ Level 5.1 @ High / 4:2:0 / 10 bits / 1000nits / HDR10 / BT.2020 Audio: Korean / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 2368 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit) Audio: Korean / DTS-HD Master Audio / 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1804 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit) Audio: Spanish / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 2366 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit) Audio: Spanish / DTS-HD Master Audio / 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1803 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit) Subtitle: Spanish / 30.338 kbps Subtitle: Spanish / 0.048 kbps The problem is that the Custom Bluray works fine, menus, chapter select, pop up menu, etc but HDR is not working despite is in the Custom Bluray (see BDinfo). If I play the file that contains the movie, the bigest one (xxx.m2ts) HDR works fine Tested on Oppo, Chinoppo and Powerdvd18 |

I'm confused...
If you started off with an Blu-ray AVC 8-bit video source and are generating a HEVC 10-bit video encode, where are you getting the HDR10 data from?

Which version are you using? The development is actively ongoing on a new version that generates correct UHD BD output. I'm not sure if the aspect you're after is working yet or not.

I hope the video tracks have the same number of frames and that the movie starts at the same frame number because they have different frame rates and simply speeding up the UHD to 24p from 24/1.001p may not align everything. |

I´ve changed fps of the UHD from 23,976 to 24.000 and audio and video fit properly. The only problem is that HDR is not working, I play de Custom with SDR instead HDR. As you can see in the BDinfo HDR is on the new Custom Bluray/UHD

Normal BD structure (1.00, 2.00) doesn't contain the info about the HDR metadata only the UHD BD structure (3.00) contains it in the corresponding mpls and clpi files (and in some extension of others), so I guess that's why it plays as SDR. When you play only the m2ts file then the player use only the information from the m2ts file itself, so HDR works.

I would try to compare the mpls files but you should change it to ver 3.00 to be able to include the HDR info. Don't know what your player will do with different versions in different files... Maybe I should develop a feature to change the version of the whole structure...

Good, I can contribute that I have already seen some Hybrid, Blu-ray structure + UHD footage, and they work correctly. As soon as I have a little time I want to compare with BDedit that it be changed in the structure so that it works, since I have the hybrid (Blu-ray + UHD) as well as the original Blu-ray. Sorry for my English. |
