I have just tried AutoGK with xvid 1.0 beta 2 and with everything set to default (xvid, bfames, cm, trellis, mpeg). The first pass seems OK but then AutoGK reports a divide by zero error when going to the 2nd pass. I ran the test again with koepi's XviD-24062003-1 version and it seemed to work OK. Is AutoGK compatible with the latest xvid or is there something I have missed?

Auto GK is not compatible with the 1.0 beta XviD version, and it will not be. When a stable release come out it will be compatible then.

Hello...
I was wondering whether xvid, vobsub, and/or avisynth were required for autogk to work for a 1 cd divx with mp3 audio and subtitles. How about for a 2 cd divx with ac3 and subtitles?
Thanks...
JJ

vobsub is required for subs (doesn't the name already tell you that?) avisynth is required for everything and the codecs are required as you use them. xvid output without an xvid codec installed will obviously fail, and the same goes for divx output without the divx codec installed.

0.67 multi-disk Divx splitting problem

The bug appears to be in vdubmod 1.5.10.1. Both it and 1.5.4.1 show the length of Movie.avi as 144012 frames when I just load movie.avi. But when running lastjob.vcf and spliting off CD1, CD2 or CD3 it shows the total number of frames to be processed as 184,371 each time, 28% bigger. Each CD.avi is turning out 132% or so bigger that the original unsplit movie.avi, instead of 33% as you would expect.

irtualDub.Open("L:\\Movie.avi",0,0);
VirtualDub.RemoveInputStreams();
VirtualDub.stream[0].SetSource(0x73647561,0,0);
VirtualDub.stream[0].SetMode(0);
VirtualDub.stream[0].SetInterleave(1,500,2,0,0);
VirtualDub.video.SetDepth(24,24);
VirtualDub.video.SetMode(0);
VirtualDub.video.SetFrameRate(0,1);
VirtualDub.video.SetIVTC(0,0,-1,0);
VirtualDub.video.SetCompression();
VirtualDub.video.filters.Clear();
VirtualDub.subset.Delete();
VirtualDub.subset.AddRange(100948,42359);
VirtualDub.SaveAVI("L:\\Movie.CD3.avi");

Bummer
I'm off to VdubMod forum

*Edit* look at this:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66249

problem should be solved by:
=============================
Just check "Include selection and edit list" when "Save processing settings". Avery Lee added this checkbox since VirtualDub 1.5.5.
============================

I'll add those values in the registry in the next version (coming today).

version 0.68 beta is out

Should automatically check registry settings for correct new VDubMod usage now.

Yes, all above installed. Maybe, the problem is because I'm using Win98SE...

thanks as always. I had used GK for 10 movies, and GKfast4u for 2 movies, last night I tried AutoGK 0.66 for Fight Club.

as 0.4x, I used 2cd for one movie, and it created 3 files avi (one 1.4gb avi, then 2 x 1cd files, it had some problem of disk space for me, and I also need split subs for the 2 cd files, I had difficulties sync. the time for cd2....

so, this time, I used Custom size of "1400mb" option below rather than the 2cd option, hoping it will save some space and when I do the split, I can manually control the sub's time...well, this morning I still saw 3 files, 1 1.36gb avi 1st came out, then 2 1.83gb files each, named cd1, cd2, I browsed these 2 files, found them still the whole movie, and sounds like latter part of these two files having no sound...

strange?I wonder why it still had 2 cd1/cd2 files after the correct 1.36gb file, and these two files are of in-correct content(same full length move)/length(1.83gb each)/sound(partly no sound)...will this be fixed? thank you again.

ohoh, intersting findings:

I checked again these 2 big cd1/cd2 files, this cd1 file, contains the whole movie with sound, and till end of the feature, it continues with a no-sound 1st part of the feature, then the cd2 file, contains again the whole movie with sound, and till end of the feature, it continue the latter part of the movie again, but no sound.

looks like cd1= movie + 1/2 movie,
cd2=movie+ 2/2 movie....

Tick this option to fix it or D/L 0.68 which already has it ticked.

Short one:

What if I select a Minimum Width (say 704) in Advanced Seetings dialog and leave Audio to Auto. Will AGK choose automatically between AC3 and MP3 to ensure good quality based on the analysis ?

I am not to lazy to test, will do tonight, just don't have the project here on this computer.

Btw. is there a reason why the max. file size is limited to 3000 MB (apart from the unlimited switch with no settings influence). I am currently dealing with Lotr 2 (3:45h joined parts) which gives me hard time obtaining good Video quality while keeping AC3 5.1. A max. settings of 4480 MB(DVD-R Size) would be preferable.

I just had a quick question, I'm not sure if anyone has asked it before. Would it be possible to have an option to encode only the movie section and cut out the credits? I personally never encode the credits so that I can have a higher bitrate for the movie itself. I'm not sure if others do the same and how hard it would be to detect when the credits start but it's just a suggestion. Thanks for a great program!

This end-credit point has been raised a few times now. How about using dvd2avi to specify the start and end point of the required encode.

I know you are going to go on about the 'newbies' but hear me out. You can leave things as they are so newbies can just use the program as usual.

Users that want to cut off trailers/credits do this-> Right click on the task bar icon for dvd2avi, select restore. Hit esc. This stops the indexing.

Hit F5 to check the movie. Hit esc again. Move the slider to the endpoint of the film (before the credits) and click ']'. Hit F4 ( save as ) and over write the file called <film_name>.d2v.

So we drop the credits using dvd2avi as an edit console. No 'credit detection' filter required.

shoot me down

I presume they could be detected as a high bitrate jump at the end of the movie.

I think we are getting dangerously close to asking for too much here. If I'm not misunderstanding len0x, his intention with this fabolous program is to provide a "one-click" solution to MPEG-4 encoding, just as DVD2One/DVDShrink is doing for DVD->DVDR backups.

There is no way to provide a simple, easy-to-use tool, with "unlimited" functionality. I too would love to see some of GK:s features such as choice of Deinterlace method, noise filter, external subtitles and a job-queue, but then why don't I just go ahead and use GK instead? It's providing all those features.

Perhaps AutoGK is a little bit too simple and GK a little bit too complex?

Anyway, len0x is giving us access to one of the most "fun-to-use" apps around. Let's cut him some slack and implement what he think gives most value to AutoGK.

Rock on!

0.68 bombing out on vdub

upgraded from 0.65 which works well. attempting to encode a movie. dvd2avi runs ok. program starts the 'analyzing source' section and vdub fall over.

see screen dump HERE

I've probably got the wrong version of divx installed or something but i am attempting to perform a xvid encode. Previous version have all worked ok.
