there's nothing wrong, it's just megui doesnt (still) create SAP-friendly encodes.
hardware players require specific codec settings and buffers (have a look at the DivX certification).
however if you adjust the profiles with compatible settings and dont specify a too high bitrate (or too low quantizer in CQ mode) it should work.

720p is DivX HD. it has even different specifications from DivX home theater... i suggest to have a look at DivX profiles...
and you need a DivX HD player... if you dont, then you need to resize down the video to a supported res. (720x***) coz you cant play HD material on non-HD enabled players.

I was not talking about a divx player , i said the megui encoded xvid file doesn't play on any software media player on pc .

You probably installed some crazy codec pack that messed everything up. Uninstall it, clean it all out, and reinstall ffdshow.

Who cares about the original poster? If I had found the answer to this a month ago I would have saved lot of headache encoding my videos. Whoever who looks for the same answer and gets here, will be glad to know this, instead of getting into another forever-unsolved thread and having to go back to google.

Finished threads are supposed to help everyone, unfinished ones are a waste of time for everyone.

What is "divxh264decoder820" anyway? Any search I do for it comes back either as a download for a .exe or as a tag for a potential virus.

You obviously don't. Close the door thx.

Now, here is the codec I mentioned before. I thought having the exe name would be faster to find, instead of spamming a link, but seems like not everyone has the knowledge to properly use google. So here you are:

Funny. You're accusing people of not being able to use Google even though the search term you posted in the first place leads spamming sites?

With your attitude I guess it won't be long before you get a strike.
