why do some dvds have delayed audio?

hi,

i've got a question about the audio-delay on some dvds.

why would someone want to use a delayed audio? what's so difficult for the dvd authorer to add or remove, lets say, 100ms of the audio-track? i don't get the sense of these delays...

cu and thanx in advance
