Sir, I am trying to make a DVD from an AVI file. Fully converted into a DVD. But the audio is not matched with the video. Here is the log file. Please suggest me.

@ummus
what do you mean "the audio is not matched with the video"? That the audio is out of sync with video? I can see one peculiarity in your input file: video has a length of 2:55:36 hours and audio has a length of 2:56:24 hours. Is ok input video playback? @Richardw322 please post the log file. Bye |

Conversion of 1280x720 to DVD resolution
Hi,
I just converted the download of "Home" from Azureus ( It is also available from YouTube at a slightly higher bitrate ) and here is the the AviSynth Script I used: LoadPlugin("c:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Msharpen.dll") LoadPlugin("c:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\ColorMatrix.dll") Import("C:\Program Files\AVStoDVD\Lib\A2DSource.avsi") Video = A2DVideoSource("C:\Documents and Settings\oem\My Documents\Azureus Downloads\HOME.mkv", CacheFolder = "C:\DOCUME~1\oem\LOCALS~1\Temp") Video = Video.ConvertToYV12 Video = Video.ColorMatrix(mode="Rec.709->Rec.601") #Using DGPulldown to upsize FPS Video = Video.Lanczos4Resize(720,576) Video = Video.Msharpen(8,60,true,false,false) Audio = A2DAudioSource("C:\Documents and Settings\oem\My Documents\Azureus Downloads\HOME.mkv", CacheFolder = "C:\DOCUME~1\oem\LOCALS~1\Temp") Audio = Audio.SSRC(48000) AudioDub(Video, Audio) Using HC with AQ=1 and Lumigain=1 and Fox2 matrix, it gave suprisingly good results with slight jerking due to the PAL conversion, but the extra 96 lines are worth having. I used convert ColorMatrix as I assumed it came from a BD disc. Do I have "Video = Video.ColorMatrix(mode="Rec.709->Rec.601")" in the right place? Send me the log file via email (avstodvd@gmail.com), 'cause attachment approval is usually a bit long. @davidcw it sounds a little OT: copyrighted material download and AviSynth script editing... Bye |

There is a problem with title 1: HCenc encoded only 50 seconds and then it stopped.
You can try following list: - Verify the AVI file is not corrupted (does it play fine from beginning to end? You can use AVStoDVD Preview Clip to check) - Retry the project (if you have not done yet) - Try to force DirectShowSource instead of A2DSource (FIRST go to 'Preferences'/'Encoding'/'AVS Source Filter' and select 'DirectShowSource', THEN load your project) - Use QuEnc instead of HCenc (FIRST load your project, then go to 'Title Edit'/'Video'/'Video Encoding Profile' and select 'QuEnc CBR 1-pass) Let me know Bye |

Darn, I never checked that one that!! The second one is the one with the "oddball fps, and I jumped straight to that. I am going to try all and see what happens. BTW, I checked in MPC-HC with both internal decoder and FFDshow, and it played well. Now we have a problem I tried to play it in Preview clip and I get audio and no video. Is that right? Tried a couple of the titles, same thing. No video, only audio. Is that normal?

Think I found the answer, at least I think so. I tried changing to directshow source first, and it came to 68700. The next file was at 80000, so I aborted. Changed back to default, and tried qenc, and the first title was only 1200!! Checked in Virtual Dub, and the first video has 68700 frames!! So the key was using directshow source. At least I think so. I just started the new encode and I'll know for sure when it writes the ISO.

OK, finally had a chance to tewst out the DVD. It worked great when I changed the source from A2D to Directshow. Any idea why? The first AVI acts just like the others in MPC-HC both with and without FFDshow, and virtual dub complained about the audio but nothing else. (Virtual Dub complaigns about the audio in every file I throw at it) Any ideas? I kepyt the log from the new run if it will help.

Well, just a guess. A2DSource tries first to use AVISource to open the file, if it fails it shifts to DirectShowSource and finally to FFMpegSource. Probably the first AVI (at least the beginning of it) goes thru AVISource but after 50 seconds it quits. Maybe a not properly encoded XviD.
You can confirm by selecting AVISource as default and then try to convert again the "problematic" XviD. Just to know, where did you get it? Bye |

@noozul
really do not know. I usually download and use only ffdshow "stable" releases. Latest stable release is ffdshow_beta6_rev2527_20081219.exe (Dec 2008). BTW, if you want to make a compatibility check, your effort will be surely appreciated Bye |

I have a DVD that was released in letterbox 4:3 AR NTSC. The original image is 1.66.
When I load it into AVStoDVD, in order to resize it to full 16:9 AR with black pillars on the sides, the program crops the image on all sides. This is the script it suggests: Video = Video.ConvertToYV12 Video = Video.ChangeFPS(25) Video = Video.Spline16Resize(720,576,0,66,0,-66) To start with I don't know why it's changing it to PAL, because the file is NTSC and I want to keep it that way. Which is the proper way to load it and set the values? |

1. If you selected PAL as default video standard, then any project will be set to follow PAL standards (resolution and framerate) 2. A 1.66 letterboxed to 4:3 DAR DVD should be kept as it is, without trying to force it as widescreen. Anyway if you want to force it, AVStoDVD by default will crop top and bottom to reach 16:9 proportion, as you have seen. If you want to have left and right black pillars, then you have to play with AviSynth: - Crop() top/bottom - Resize() - AddBorders() left/right - Resize() again Check it out by yourself. If you are smart enough, you can have just one resize. Good scripting! Bye Last edited by MrC; 21st September 2009 at 20:28. Reason: More hints |

Of course I am not selecting PAL. I go to Preferences > Audio/Video and deselected it there. But I do have two descriptions for the file I am loading, which is an m2v demuxed from my DVD: 1) In Source/titles it's listed as 720x480 29.97. 2) In View/Edit Title settings is listed as 720 x 576 PAL. It doesn't matter is is I set as NTSC in Preferences. Why is that? Quote:

Thanks! Edit: just went have a look at another French film of mine I had also resized, with excellent results. The combo script used crop() and resize(). In my present case I ended up with: Crop(0,44,0,-44) Lanczos4Resize(720,480) It looks very good. Last edited by carlmart; 21st September 2009 at 21:31. |

1.
Are you sure you have selected FIRST 'Preferences'/'AudioVideo'/'Video Standard' (as NTSC) and THEN you load your input title? 2. A 1.66 letterboxed to 4:3 DAR DVD should be kept as it is because that does not involve any re-encoding, while going to 16:9 does. Remember that every time you re-encode, you loose quality. I think you can always adjust your plasma screen DAR settings without much pain. 3. I would not give you a ready-to-copy AviSynth script. I would like you to play a little bit with AviSynth (basic) functions to write a working script by yourself. Don't be lazy, my friend! Just try, I can assure that your satisfaction will be great.
