virtual dub audio compression problem

hey guys im having a huge problem with virtual dub...

when im compressing an .avi( no matter what audio codec I use), the .avi has the sound completely messed up, its like the radio... when you´re passing channels... that noise..

this is one example of what i used:

on audio conversion -> 44100 Hz 16 bit stereo

audio compression mpeg-layer 3 128 Kbit/s, 44100 Hz, stereo

video compression was 2nd pass with xvid
